         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Variation -</strong> In all species, individuals differ in their genetic makeup, producing many variations in their physical features; individuals in a population vary from each other. <br><strong>Inheritance </strong>&nbsp;Individuals pass some of their genetic material to their offspring; parents pass on their traits to their offspring <strong><br>Selection</strong> Some individuals have inherited character (genes) that allows them to better survive or produce more offspring. These offspring, in turn, are more likely to survive and create offspring of their own. As a result, their genes become more common in the entire population; some variants reproduce more than others. <strong><br>Time</strong> Over time, selection results in changes in species.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Sexual selection is a special case of natural selection. Sexual selection acts on an organism's ability to obtain or successfully copulate with a mate.</div><div>Selection makes many organisms go to extreme lengths for sex: peacocks maintain elaborate tails, elephant seals fight over territories, fruit flies perform dances, and some species deliver persuasive gifts. Going to even more extreme lengths, the male red back spider literally flings itself into the jaws of death in order to mate successfully.</div><div>Sexual selection is often powerful enough to produce features that are harmful to the individual's survival.          <title>Evolution of CATS</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>All cats have evolved as predatory hunting mammals with particularly keen senses of hearing, sight and smell. Anatomical characteristics such as the rounded head and skeletal structure suggest that all the 37 recognised species within the Felidae family evolved from a common ancestor, probably living in Asia around 10-12 million years ago. There has been a rapid expansion and diversity of the Felidae family during the past 10 to 11 million years and by 3 million years ago there was a wide variety of cats populating all regions of the earth except the Arctic, Antarctic and Australia. The rise and fall of sea levels over many millennia helped both to create conditions where Felidae species could migrate and occupy other geographical locations (when sea levels were low) and isolate the development of species (when sea levels were high).
