The Spanish-American War (1898) was a conflict between the United States and Spain, sparked by U.S. support for Cuban independence. The Spanish-American War resulted in U.S. acquisitions of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines, marking America's rise as a global power. It led to Cuban independence under U.S. influence, fueled imperialist ambitions, strengthened military strategy, and opened new economic opportunities, shaping future American foreign policy significantly.

During World War I, the U.S. government used propaganda to gain support from the public. They created posters, films, and newspaper ads. Campaigns like "Uncle Sam Wants You" encouraged people to enlist. These messages framed the war as a fight for democracy, helping to unite the nation and increase participation.

The U.S. joined World War I because of Germany's submarine attacks, the Zimmerman Telegram, and strong economic ties to the Allies. President Wilson asked Congress for a declaration of war on April 2, 1917, to protect democracy. American troops played a key role in important battles, helping end the war in November 1918.

The Treaty of Versailles ended World War I. It made Germany lose land, pay reparations, and limit its military. It also included a blame clause for the war and created the League of Nations to promote peace. The U.S. didn’t join the League of Nations due to Senate opposition over sovereignty and public preference for isolationism.
