Public education is hindering if not squeezing the creativity out of students. Obviously if the way we did public education was changed more creativity could be allowed but also I think that the teacher has the ability to bring creativity into the classroom. I feel that encouraging more creativity fits together with having content that is engaging with the students. If you don't force the students to think in one specific way, they can be more open to topics.

Students need the arts! Creativity in the classroom is so important especially in this age of technology and emphasis on academia. Students are constantly reminded in schools that they need good grades in subjects like math, languages, science, social science, etc. in order to graduate, go to college, get a degree, get a good job and possibly get an even higher degree just to live comfortably. It's what's expected. Due to this push by educators and parents we are losing much creativity. When schools assess their programs, the arts are the first ones cut when they have a budget issue. This is not okay. I think bringing creativity into the classroom will spark an interest in students to seek an artistic outlet outside of the classroom. This is a very important topic.
