The two sides in the war are Libertarian Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), the other side in the war is the Sri Lanka government. The LTTE consisted of two different armies, one was the Eastern Wing and the other was Northern Wing. They tried making many peace treaties involving both of the sides. They also received help from the EU, Canada, and Austrailia, but these countries did not contribute as much to the war. India did this because they were getting huge numbers of refugees and wanted to stop the conflict. The USA did not help much with the violence but they were working with the Sri Lanka government to come to a peace treaty with LTTE. I think that more countries should have gotten involved with the war because over 200k people died. Tamils agreed on federal solution (rather than own country).
