My name is actually the result of my father complying to western naming customs when naming my siblings and myself. Our last name "Hassan" is actually the first name of my fathers grandfather, and therefore my fathers last name. My middle name Nicole has Greek origins and can mean "victorious person". Nothing too special about my given name. It comes from a compromise between my parents. Marcus is one of the most common names in Sweden for males around my age group. For context, I am quickly approaching 30. Although my mother wanted to name me Martin at first, which was also a common first name at the time. However, my father associates that name with a person that he is not too found of. Therefore, Marcus became the middle ground. My last name is from my father’s side. It is somewhat common in Sweden, but it is uncommon enough that people frequently ask me if I know someone else with the surname Palm. Once I did.
