How the gospel is God's and not "Our" gospel. A lot of times we treat it as ours so we don't really wanna share it? The assurance in matt 18:20 really shows us that the sharing itself is a work of God

It was quite eye-opening to first understand that evangelism is essentially about GOD and FOR God, and out of a concern for HIS glory. I think this would really get us to not be as scared of being rejected by people (but actually more like fear God as well haha in evangelism). Grateful for the session, and hoping not to just listen from it but actually DO it.

The WHY for Evangelism really reminds me the importance of having the God-centredness in evangelising.

It is the Gospel of God, that’s why we cannot compromise on the message and need to stand firm on the nature of the gospel itself, one that will be offensive towards sinners as we present what is sin and how big and Holy God is to them.

I like how we start with the why before going into what the Gospel is. A lot of the times we truncate and "personalise" our Gospel and motivation, but our drive to evangelise really comes from God instead.

Box 1 and Box 2, i learnt that the gospel preached without clarifying what sin is will really truncate the gospel. I reflected how I am often someone who prefers to preach a non-offensive gospel, just wanting to be nice and hope they have a better receiving response. But the irony when I am being nice is that I am not being truthful and I distort the very gospel message that gave me salvation

i learnt that it is pretty easy for us to assume that the cross is just to take away our punishment like a get out of jail free card but then from this session it seems like the cross is more than that, it is actually there to bring us back to the Rev 4:11 state of us living under God's rule and being reconciled with him.

Knowing this, it helps me to see that salvation isn't about avoiding hell, but rather an entire life of worship where we can be truly human o.o

I see how it is in fact quite possible to not understand Jesus is by having a simplistic, reductionistic understanding of God and sin (Box 1 and Box 2). It got me to really think about the method and manner as well which Kae Sheng the trainer brought up: A wrong manner and method (ex: reducing the force, the tone to make it sound nicer) can actually paint a different gospel, a different Jesus.. I am someone very liable for this actually.. because I am quite a people-pleaser. I see, however, that the gospel is first and foremost FOR God (God-centered) and if I were to ever compromise, it would mean I am more men-centered than God-centered.

I see the impossibility of presenting Box 3: Jugdement and Box 4: Atonement rightly without the thorough understanding of Box 1 and 2. It would end up downplaying what judgement is and the significance of Jesus death.

The Moral Influence Atonement theory is really tricky for us to sniff out. Because from the outside, the person tho holding to a false view of the gospel would look like a Christian who is passionate about God. But the motivation is very self-centred with a wrong perception of who God. Is. This further gets me to see the importance of understanding the full extent of what the message of 2wtl is.

I learnt that the cross in the gospel is a part where you either get it wrong or get it right. And just like how I reflected the previous day the importance of getting Box 1 and Box 2 right, without the combination of these boxes there really is no way how we can get the gospel presentation right.

I always didn't take much notice on the Creation account in the Bible, as Kae Sheng went through the detailed explanations of Box 1, I have more understanding of how establishing God as Creator and Lord is the basis over all the other elements of the other boxes. Understand God, understand myself, and sin, judgment, atonement, resurrection, all made more sense!

My naturally thinking always has a glitch in explaining and justifying the judgment of God, thus I have difficulties talking about it, but today's a reminder again that it's more than often my care for my own self-image that makes it hard for me to talk about it. Judgment of God is not arbitrary nor harsh, the judgment of God is righteous, nothing to be ashamed about this righteous God whom I am believing in.

Judgment --> I think we usually think of the word judgment as negative or unfair to be enacted for God. Yet we see today that judgment is actually a function of the character of God as the loving ruler who cares about righteousness and justice.. It's good that he judges and we should not be ashamed of it..

Resurrection --> I never see it as pivotal, especially compared to 'the cross'. Today was quite a rebuke to me because the bible shows how in fact, for the apostles, God's POV, the resurrection is crucial in showing the life that we are to live for (Romans hahaha) -- a life to God

I hope that I will not take the Word in vain or harden my heart, and that I will live this life to Christ, submit to Him as my ruler (Box 6 ><)

With Box 5 and Box 6, I see that in the end, the most important thing is to be faithful to the Lord. It isn't just about getting the contents right, but preaching the gospel faithfully.

I often hesitate to push hard on Box 2 and Box 3, and also calling for a response by the end, would prefer to give in and allow them to go and think about it without being insistence with how knowing this ought to either contradict or shape reality.

This is a reflection for myself who struggles to allow God's Word to shape my identity to be someone willing to only find all of life in God. Rather I often live a life who lives trying to please both God and myself. So it manifests in me trying to find strength and validation from my achievements rather than allowing God's truth to shed light on how in many ways I still live a Box 2 life.

About evangelism ks, if we are evangelising someone who thinks of jesus as some loving guy who got rid of their sins (and thats it), is it wise to just focus on 123? or not....

- Your concern is actually valid. If they really have the wrong understanding of, gospel, then maybe it IS right for you to emphasize in 123. But don't just be reactive la.. If your friend is like that, doesn't mean that you only preach 123 only right

God's glory is seen in creation as said 'in the things that have been made'

If God is a loving ruler, why did God only die for humans?
why didn't he die for everything? for the creatures, for humans, for the devils and for lucifer

wouldn't it be less loving of God to only die for humans? as he would only be restoring one part of his creation rather than the whole as a loving ruler

From the training sessions, I really learnt how my evangelism efforts have more shortcomings. Because I often am trying to just respond better to questions when the entire point of evangelism is discipleship, it is seeking to establish the Lordship of Christ, it is pointing people to a truth revealed from God.

Kae Sheng's advice on finding a common ground to make the gaps smaller, shows how we need to reeducate people on the things they now know in light of what we know from the gospel. Evangelism is about shaping the mind to see the world and life through the gospel, having a gospel-centered worldview, It is discipleship because it seeks to get them to see who they are before Jesus, which is Box 2 by default, and have them make the logical response to Jesus which is submission to a Lord who now rises above all.

In Rakjesh's workshop, I learnt that confronting someone as a sinner before God is very important for them to realise their need to know God. Given an individualistic nature of Hinduism, the Hindus definitely need Box 2 explicitly explained to them before humbling themselves to know God.

In Wilson's workshop, I realised how the true DNA of a Prostestant is really all for the Word, the Roman Catholics stand by their traditions and as a student ministry, should we compromise and follow traditions as the basis before the Word we go back to being Roman Catholics
