Our household income is $86,364. Whereas, a place like Burr Ridge's household income is $148,214. So where I grew up is not as wealthy as other neighborhoods but it's still worth something. Just because the household incomes maybe different doesn't mean our city doesn't share the same values as the other ones do. For example, we share the same restaurants because they are very local and we also share things such as basketball courts and football fields. Overall it is a nice community. My school isn't the most known for sports but we have a very great academic program. You have police and security guards which are basically government. Then you have my parents and leaseholders. The security guards and police have the authority and power to keep everything and everyone civilized. My parents have the authority and power to work, raise me, feed me and provide clothes on my back etc. Leasing holders have the power to rent houses to people. The reason I say this is because my community likes to come up with new ideas and make them come true to help better the community. For example, we used to have a dirty and rough basketball court that was very hard to play on and we always had to suck it up and make the best of the situation. Well now we have a brand new basketball court and we get to enjoy it because the community made the situation better with their new ideas. Another example is the pool that we used to have which was dirty filtered and nobody wanted to swim in it because of its conditions. Now they have built and remodeled a new swimming pool which allows us to easily swim in. Technology plays a role because if we have new, better and more improved technology then we can come up with more ideas and inventions to better things around us. Like my community has an Apple store right around the corner from us which is coming up with new inventions everyday. This type of work gives hope to the people in my community because if we know that there are people out there working to better our conditions then we feel secure in what is to come. Society plays a role because the better our society the better the community is. Our society is well brought up, everybody is always looking out for each other and always trying to make sure everything is all good. That's a reason I love my community because you don't just have your parents looking out for you but you have the parents of other kids looking out for you as well. School plays a big part as in society because we have teachers that are willing to help educate the society. So there is absolutely no reason to be insecure because technology and society always insures us a better community. I use safari a lot so I can look up definitions and to research things. I use YouTube to watch basketball for entertainment purposes. I use messages to get in touch with people. I come from a community that values art and culture. We have a lot of art on sidewalks in our community or even just in the plain street. People like to put art on their cars with designs of things such as black famous people or even just a symbol of what their culture means and represents. My sister does a lot of cultural art so I'm always around it. With her she always wants to give off a pretty big message so that people can understand the black community.
