This was the Boy's vision of himself and how he wanted to tell his story. In a way, this shows that we tell our stories how we would want others to see our lives, and not how they really are.

2.) Into the Wild: “I'm going to paraphrase Thoreau here... rather than love, than money, than faith, than fame, than fairness... give me truth. ” The way that McCandless chose to tell his story was different from most people because he chose a life different to theirs. He decided that he would tell his story as a struggle to regain the "truth" that he deserved.

3.) Othello: "Let heaven and men and devils, let them all,
All, all, cry shame against me, yet I'll speak." Othello also takes the approach of telling his own story here, through this quote once all is revealed. He speaks here for what is the honest truth of himself, and not just as "The Moor of Venice"

4.) Born a Crime: “I didn’t have any friends. I didn’t know any kids besides my cousins. I wasn’t a lonely kid—I was good at being alone. I’d read books, play with the toy that I had, make up imaginary worlds. I lived inside my head. I still live inside my head. To this day you can leave me alone for hours and I’m perfectly happy entertaining myself. This quote relates to the book because the universe is everything and everyone, and thus the people around you will help you and be a part of your story.

2.) Into the Wild: "Happiness is only real when shared.” This quote shows that others play a part in our stories by sharing our happiness with us. Without them, our happiness wouldn't be real.

3.) Othello: "I follow him to serve my turn upon him." In this quote, Iago shows that his part in Othello's story is only one that helps him further his own interests. Many a time, people only associate themselves with people for their own benefit.

4.) Born a Crime: "Fufi was my first heartbreak. No one has ever betrayed me more than Fufi. It was a valuable lesson to me. The hard thing was understanding that Fufi wasn’t cheating on me with another boy. She was merely living her life to the fullest." In this way, Fufi played a part in Trevor's story by teaching him a lesson. What this quote says is that others seem to tell our stories through their own lense and can't see our lives how we ourselves see it.

Into the Wild: "I'd like to repeat the advice that I gave you before, in that I think you really should make a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt." This quote which was in a letter from McCandless to Franz was meant to persuade Franz to change his life in favor of one similar to McCandless'. It is discovered that this letter did in fact work, and thus Franz allowed his story to be told somewhat by someone else.

3.) Othello: "Reputation, reputation, reputation! O, I have lost my reputation! I have lost the immortal part of myself, and what remains is bestial." In this quote, Cassio allowed the people of Venice to tell his story through his reputation, which he cared dearly for. Positive or negative, he allowed their story of him to become his story of himself.

4.) Born a Crime: “Nearly one million people lived in Soweto. Ninety-nine point nine percent of them were black—and then there was me. I was famous in my neighborhood just because of the color of my skin. I was so unique people would give directions using me as a landmark. “The house on Makhalima Street. At the corner you’ll see a light-skinned boy. Take a right there.”" Trevor, being so different, was thought of differently by the people of Soweto. They spoke of him like he was inhuman, and treated him as such, too. But only speak a word and my servant will be healed."" This quote shows how the man's story was taken and spoke by many. It was told because everyone plays a central role in the history of the world.

2.) Into the Wild: "Astoundingly, the eighty-one-year-old man took the brash twenty-four-year-old vagabonds advice to heart. Franz placed his furniture and most of his other possessions in a storage locker, bought a CMC Duravan, and outfitted it with bunks and camping gear. Then he moved out of his apartment and set up camp on the bajada." What this quote shows is that he took McCandless' words to heart and allowed them to shape his story. In this way, he let McCandless do this because it was what Franz himself wanted as well.

3.) Othello: "For she had eyes and chose me." In this quote, which shows that Desdemona chose Othello over everyone else, it is shown that Desdemona lets Othello write her story in a way because she chose him to do so.

Born a Crime: “When it was time to pick my name, she chose Trevor, a name with no meaning whatsoever in South Africa, no precedent in my family It's not even a Biblical name. “It’s just a name,” he explains. “My mother wanted her child beholden to no fate. She wanted me to be free to go anywhere, do anything, be anyone.” Trevor, unlike many of the people in the other books, did not let his story get told by others. The Alchemist: "I'm going to wait here for you every day, I have crossed the desert in search of a treasure that is somewhere near the Pyramids, and for me, the war seemed a curse. But now it's a blessing, because it brought me to you." His life experiences, which included learning arabic and traveling over the desert led him to this point. It also influenced his purpose to be more leaned towards returning to Al Fayoum once he found his treasure.

2.) Into the Wild: "The core of man's spirit comes from new experiences." What this quote says is that life experiences are extremely important to who you are as a person and what you set out to do.

3.) Othello: "I think the sun where he was born Drew all such humors from him." This quote shows how even when Emilia thought that Desdemona would look guilty in the eyes of Othello, she herself did not share that view. Her past experiences with Othello had told her that he would trust her no matter what, and her purpose was swayed in a way that she need not worry about his jealousy.

4.) Born a Crime: “—a knowledgeable man is a free man, or at least a man who longs for freedom.” Trevor was blessed enough to get an education in a place where such a thing was scarce. His life experience of getting an education helped him realize that he needed freedom, and wanted to bring it to the people of South Africa. 2.) Into the Wild: "You are wrong if you think that the joy of life comes principally from the joy of human relationships. God's place is all around us, it is in everything and in anything we can experience. People just need to change the way they look at things." What this quote shows is that the way you look at life changes the way that you experience it. Chris's purpose in this example was to tour the western United States. Instead of being like most and letting other people play a role in his life, he looked at life from a more fundamental view, and allowed nature to fill that role. 

3.) Othello: "I do perceive here a divided duty." In this quote, Desdemona has to choose between her father and her new husband. Her purpose, she decides, is to be with her husband and disgrace her father. In this way, she ends up experiencing life as the wife of Othello.

4.) Born a Crime: "We tell people to follow their dreams, but you can only dream of what you can imagine, and, depending on where you come from, your imagination can be quite limited. A kid cannot dream of being an astronaut if he does not know about space.” In this quote, it shows how purpose can affect your life in a negative way. The white man's purpose for the black man in south africa was to be uneducated and almost unofficially a slave to them. The best way that they were able to enforce this was to never show them another way to live. What I interpret from this is that everyone's personal legend affects the world and thus everyone else's personal legend. For example, the boy influenced the crystal merchant when he brought his ideas to his shop.

In this quote, it shows that if you want something badly enough, you will do anything to get it, which will affect yourself and the people around you.

In this quote, Iago professes that he cares not for the well being of others as long as he achieves his goal of ruining Othello. In this way, he affects the lives of those who he uses to get what he wants.

4.) Born a Crime: “Love is a creative act. When you love someone you create a new world for them. My mother did that for me, and with the progress I made and the things I learned, I came back and created a new world and a new understanding for her.” In this, it could be said that Trevor's mother's purpose was to raise Trevor to be a good and successful person. 3.) Othello: "Our bodies are our gardens, to the which our wills are gardeners." In this way, the purpose would be the will, and the journey would be the body. People's wills guide them towards their purpose.

In Soweto, because there was no leaving the ghetto, the dream was to transform the ghetto.” Because of the restrictive circumstances of Soweto, the people who lived there tended to have a similar purpose.
