Billy is responsible for providing consultation to UC Berkeley staff, faculty, students, and senior campus administrators on policies that pertain to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, intimate partner abuse, sexual harassment, and hate crimes/bias related incidents.  He is committed to fostering a campus climate that resists exclusion, and values the myriad of identities present among the student, faculty and staff populations. 

Billy is not only active on campus but also sits on various Boards of Directors and city-wide committees in San Francisco.  He is also active in a number of national organizations and has delivered lectures on race, gender and sexuality at other universities nationally.  He is excited about the possibilities the full realization of a Gender Equity Resource Center can bring to UC Berkeley

Her first book, Quaint, Exquisite: Victorian Aesthetics and the Idea of Japan, was published by Princeton University Press in 2019, and her scholarly essays have been published in Critical Inquiry, Differences, Social Text Online, Transgender Studies Quarterly, and elsewhere. She is a General Editor of Transgender Studies Quarterly. She writes for non-specialist readerships on queer/trans culture and politics, and has published work in Autostraddle, The Guardian, Gay Magazine, them, and Catapult, where she has an occasional film column entitled “Lurid Speculations.”

Both in and outside the University, Elisa offers trainings/workshops on issues of inclusive praxis, strategic and transformational leadership, difficult dialogues, critical conversations, implicit bias, and storytelling, among others. They have served on several local and national advisory boards, including the National Center for Lesbian Rights and as national Chair of MALCS (Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social).

Our campus extends to areas of xučyun that held a tuppentak (a traditional roundhouse), a place of celebration and ceremony, as well as a shellmound, traditional Ohlone burial sites. So as we view Berkeley as a special place, we were not the first to recognize, make our lives in, or celebrate the unique and exceptional place that we have the privilege to stand on.
