On the night of February 26, 2012 in Sanford, Florida, George Zimmerman fatally shot Trayvon Martin, a 17 year old African American high school student. Trayvon was on his way home when he crossed paths with Zimmerman. Zimmerman usually patrolled the streets and had a license to carry a firearm. Before the incident, Zimmerman had called police several times to state black suspicions males. That evening when Trayvon and Zimmerman crossed paths, Zimmerman pursued Trayvon after not following orders from the operator to stay in his vehicle. After Trayvon's brutal shots, Zimmerman claimed self defense and was then released shortly, not making justice the life of Trayvon Martin. Chinese American, Mexican Americans and Japanese American communities during the 20th century were excluded from the U.S and discriminated either finically or socially. Their identities didn't allow them to be in the "land of the free". Each culture has been harassed and mistreated for not being pure American some would get sent to camps, others denied a job, and to make things worse, some had to leave everything that identified them.

There has been many social justice issues with Blacks getting killed by police officers for the way they look. Just like the Chinese, Mexican Americans, and the Japanese, their identities are being questioned. Violence has risen and several Black lives have been lost for those that are superior than the community. Innocent people of color have paid a high price for not being "pure" American.
