Modal verbs were introduced, actually in the 7th week and across to this week too.
To remind:

können = can

müssen = must/ have to

wollen = want to

And don't forget to change these words along with the subject.

e.g. Ich muss/ kann/ will

Also, I have studied about the birthday's celebration.

Geburstag = birthday

And I have known new phrasal verbs:
mitmachen = take part
anfangen = start
abholen = collect

they will be in this form, if we use modal verbs. But they will change like separate the prefix, if we use them as a verb.

e.g.

Wir rufen morgens an.

Wir können morgens anrufen.

I have learnt how to say the time in German. It is quite similar to say in English. But I have been struggling with translating numbers to English, I can then know what time it is.

Then I found the video which helped me a lot! Viele danke!

Also, I've got words describing family's members.

e.g. der Vater = Father
die Mutter = Mother
der Sohn = son
die Tochter = daughter
der Bruder = brother
die Schwester = sister

It's time to go shopping! I learnt words about foods and shopping malls in this week. There are many words to remember again. Then I can use them properly.
But the difficult part is a verb that has to have object.
ex: to ... something

brauchen = to need sth.

haben = to have sth.

machen = to do sth.

kochen = to cook sth.

essen = to eat sth.

kaufen = to buy sth.

**only masculine article changes.

ex: Ich kaufen einen Käse.

Week 5: Entschuldigung, wo ist bitte...?

I got to know that there two types of article like in English. When talking about a specific thing like the ships are in the port, it will say Die Schiffe sind im Hafen.
- Use Sind because there are many ships.
- Use Die because it is known and the ships are plural.
- im = in + dem

But if I would like to say that is a station, it will be Das ist ein Bahnhof.

- Use ein because Bahnhof is masculine noun and I do not know which exact a station is.

* ein = masculine & neutral
* eine = feminine

Also, I learnt how to say negative sentences. In German language, they use 'kein' to talk in negative sentence which it means no/not.
Ex. That is not a bus.
= Das ist kein bus.

It is same as using ein/eine. So it is like this:
* kein = masculine & neutral
* keine = feminine

Further, teacher taught how to give a direction to somewhere. To give the direction, there are three words to say: links, rechts and geradeaus. (left, right and straight)

I practiced to say rechts and geradeaus by using German dictionary on my mobile phone because I said them not clearly. It is so helpful to hear its sounds and I can practice to say many words.

I have got some words to talk about our job. And I learnt about noun in German: masculine, feminine and neutral. There is an article which will be changed with the noun. For instance, if I would like to say Restaurant, I have to say "die" Restaurant because it is feminine word.

Die - feminine
Der - masculine
Das - neutral
Die - plural

So let's practice to remember words. Then I can know which their gender is.

I studied about hobbies and what do you like to do in this week. I have gained a lot of words describing what I usually do when I have free time. Also, I learnt days of the week. At first I was struggling with pronouncing the 'höre'. It was hard to say that because my language do not often use like all parts of the mouth to say some words. But I have practiced a lot to say it better.

Ich höre sehr gern Musik.

Guten Tag! This week teacher taught how to make questions like where are you from, where do you live and what language do you speak. I have got many new words of countries and languages. I got that there are German verbs that change along with objects. For example, if you use du, informal use, with wohnen, it will be Wo wohnst du? which means where do you live.

Additionally, I have learnt numbers and I think it is quite easy to say them. But I am little confused when I would like to say numbers that are above 30!! There are tricky!
99 = neunundneunzig

This was my first time to study German and it was the first class of this course. I’ve never learnt German before, but I’ve studied French, just a little bit. So maybe it is quite similar. This week I have known how to introduce myself and how to ask others that how well they are. For example, with friends, Wie geht’s? is how are you and then we can reply with ‘Danke, Auch sehr gut.‘, which means thank you, I‘m so good. Also, I’ve got words to say goodbye in German.

About the lab class, I learnt about alphabets and vowels. Some alphabets like ‘l’ and ‘r’ sound similar, so sometimes I cannot tell which it is. I think I have to practice more! Tschüss!
