Walking around Liberty Park, there was a moderately sized homeless encampment and there were many homeless people around the park. While homeless people are not inherently bad, they can be seen as a threat, especially to families, which is who this park is largely catered towards. This speaks to the housing problems that many big cities face. It could be beneficial if low income housing or a homeless shelter was available nearby.

As I was walking around the neighborhood that is east of Liberty Park, I noticed many places in the sidewalk where chunks of concrete were missing or where the panels were uneaven. This is dangerous because people could trip and fall. This seems to be a neighborhood with a lot of little kids who would be more prone to getting hurt due to this infrastructure. If sidewalks were repaved, this area could become more family friendly and encourage people to be outside.

Though this is not super unique to this neighborhood, but is common around salt lake, the streets that have multiple names such as this one can be very confusing. It would be better if streets would only have a name instead of a number because the names are often easier to distinguish than the numbers, especially because the numbers often repeat themselves in different parts of town. This would make driving less confusing and less stressful, especially for new drivers.

This form of crosswalk safety is unusual. Users are expected to carry a flag across the street in order to be more visible to cars, but a problem arises when all of the flags end up on one side of the street. It would be better if flashing lights were put in to alert cars about pedestrians. This would especially be helpful at night when the orange flags would not be as visible.

On my walk, there were multiple instances where bushes were impeding the sidewalk and/or roads. In this specific photo, the large bush is impeding the sidewalk and making it very difficult for pedestrians to see cars coming. In other instances, there were worn paths in people's yards where walkers would step to avoid the plants that were in the way. This makes sidewalks inaccessible to people with disabilities or in wheelchairs. Homeowners and city employees should keep greenery in check and make sure it is not impeding walkways.

This 7/11 across from Liberty Park, though convenient, can attract people who may be intimidating to others. I went into this 7/11 to get a slurpee and saw multiple people who looked a little bit creepy. Due to this being a family oriented area, the placement of this 7/11 is not ideal. If this was placed block or two away from the park, it might be in a better spot.
