I think that AI will prove in the future to be a very useful tool for accessibility in the classroom and for providing a more equitable experience for students. Already, there are AI applications that help to provide accommodations and scaffolds for students in need. It also allows teachers to differentiate meaningfully without spending hours to re-do a lesson. I think it can open opportunities for educators and students alike and create space for more creativity and critical thinking.

I feel a little hesitant to use AI only because I am not knowledgeable about it. With training, exposure, and using it in the classroom hopefully that will build my confidence. However, I am excited to use it because I have heard how it can be really useful in many jobs not just in the field of education.

Efficient with AI

I think AI can help with creativity and efficiency. In 5th grade, I use AI to help me provide students with feedback on their writing. It makes the process more efficient and helps me think of things I may not have otherwise. I also use it to create student samples of essays, discussion posts, and other assignments for them to reference. I also use AI to write out directions for an assignment, digital playlist, or stations that I then print out for students or project.

In the future, I'd like to use AI to personalize assignments for students with learning differences.

I am looking forward to learning more about AI. I think it can be useful for the classroom. I honestly have only read about the negatives of AI, but I am steadily changing my mind.

I have only attempted to use AI once and I was amazed at how quickly it wrote up an assignment for me. I definitely see how it can help me create lessons and help me use my time in other ways. I look forward to exploring this tool more to better help my lesson planning.
