I take specific time out of my class time to speak one on one with individual students and ensure I speak with everyone at least once a week. We discuss challenges, successes and learning goals. 
Clarity was an area that I had to work on a little as I live in my own brain a lot. I think I have said something and yet I haven't verbalized it. This could include directions, examples, details required to complete a project. This does not happen often, but I found that even once was an issue, so I am making a concerted effort to be more articulate.

2) I have more control of the classroom by having more specific lesson plans and pay close attention in case quick changes need to be made to that lesson plan on a particular day.

I have tried a different approach to teaching by getting the students more involved in class. The students work in groups, |I am there to assist if  needed; they assisted me in creating the class rules  and we use games in order to learn.
2. Reward and recognition has done wonders for motivation and everyone is keen to participate in order to get a prize.

The second skill I have learned is that I need a goal and I need to ensure my students have a goal and vision of what needs to be learned.  This will ensure we are all working in a common direction
