Dear future self,

It’s been 2 years since today and I wanted to check in. I know you're busy in college, studying for exams and stuff. It’s your freshman year and by now I hope everything is going smoothly being away from home. Not that much has happened since you went to college. I’m so proud that you finished your junior year of high school with mostly all As and senior year with all As. I can’t wait to be you. I know you have accomplished so much.

I hear you are working and going to school at the same time. I’m impressed but not super excited about that. I hear you have made lots of friends on the floor of your dorm and are best friends with your roommate. I'm glad! I also never thought you would be able to earn as many scholarships as you have. Great work, we know we need them! I know you’re working towards your bachelor's degree in something right now and are getting your general education classes out of the way. I know you’re still trying to figure out your major. You might want to hurry and make a decision about that because in my upcoming two years, I won't have made that decision yet. I think my next year will be somewhat stressful.

Next year I will have to choose my college and do all the senior year stuff. I know next year I will be scared thinking about leaving all my current friends and family behind. I'm not excited. In years to come I see us being successful in whichever field we pick. I see us being super rich and having an awesome house. Our house will be super cute and always clean. We will drive a nice car to and from the place where we work as the boss.

I know you’re worried about student loans and debt and stuff but it’s okay. Just keep working hard and everything will be fine. You will get a good job soon and will be able to pay everything off and still have money left over to travel and do whatever you want to do. I'm so glad that you have made a difference in your life. I know your purpose is to be the best version of yourself and I’m glad you have started that. I hear you wake up early, eat healthy, and exercise daily! I’m proud you’ve started that because right now I definitely don’t do that. Keep working hard because I know it will all pay off soon. I think in one year you will be thriving. It will be your sophomore year in college. I know it will be great. You will have another great year with your new group of people and will be settled in perfectly, and if not that's okay too. It’s okay to miss our family because I know they miss you. Just keep going and everything will be okay.

Lastly, I want you to know that right now I believe in you and can't wait to see what the future holds. Stay motivated and remember all the good things you have going for you right now. You are doing well in school, you have a good job, and lots of friends, you have so many places you are going to travel to and you are having an amazing year. I want you to remember that I am rooting for you and everyone supports you. All of your family wants to see you succeed and they are cheering you on right now. Just remember that. Good luck future me!

To: Myself in 10 years

I know in 10 years from now, you will probably be retired already, and looking to find some new hobbies to invest your time into. I hope you will have invested a lot of money into real estate and rental properties. I hope right after finishing college, I was able to get a job immediately and then become rich. I would like to think I had a smooth transition from senior year into freshman year of college. I am very excited to be in your shoes, because I will be able to control my own life. I am slightly worried that I'll screw something up, but I very much doubt it because I am pretty good at just about anything. I hope one day to be able to retire and live in a completely random place, and be immersed in all the new feelings. If I somehow screw up, I'm sure I can figure it out, since I am very experienced with that whole scene. I know there will be challenges, but I am sure I can get through it all. Something I hope I didn't forget was having a job in high school where I sat around and did nothing all day.

Dear future self,

In 10 years from now, you will hopefully have a good job, a place to live and good company. Hopefully you accomplished some good things like graduating college, getting a good paying job, or in the process of having a good paying and secure job. I hope you have also been able to accomplish having a good healthy life style and not being stressed about to much. You will most likely be working towards buying a house, and making a lot of money. I think this next year will go good, it'll be senior year which should be a lot of fun, but it'll be the first year of college as well. I think it will all go good though. In future years to come, you will probably be most excited about vacations or people in your life, maybe your will be excited thinking about a family or pets. I think you will be excited to buy fun things and just enjoy life. I think you will be most worried about money, being able to have the things that you really want. I think you will be worried about adult things that I haven't had to think about yet. You probably aren't serving a greater purpose, just living life, but hopefully you are making a difference in your friends and family's lives. Hopefully you are a good person to them and they see you as a good person, making a positive impact on their lives. If you aren't where you want to be in a year, you just have to remember that you have to not be lazy, have discipline and make sure where you want to be is the right choice. But I know you can be where you want to if you put in real effort. I think when you have challenges to overcome, you will have to tell yourself you still have a long life left to live, you can get over the obstacle and know how to deal with it if it happens again, so don't stress to hard. I hope you remember the good times I am having right now, hanging out with friends, not having many responsibilities, just being young. I hope you remember that and try to stay motivated to find a similar happiness wherever you are in life. I hope it all works out for you after these 10 years, at the least I hope you are happy and fulfilled.

Sincerely - Brody

Dear future self,

In 10 years from now, at age 28, I hope you are married and have at least 2 kids (hopefully a 3rd on the way). I hope you have a big white house in the middle of nowhere with no neighbors and a bunch of farm animals. I hope you are so happy in your marriage and love raising your kids together because he is your best friend. I have graduated high school and attended Grand Valley State University to get my nursing degree! You used your nursing degree to become a midwife and you bring life into the world every time you step into a hospital! I hope you are working towards being a better mom for your children. This next year will hopefully bring in another child! We want to be done having all 3 kids by 30 years old. If it doesn't happen this year, you've got 2 more years. I'm most excited to witness our kids milestones and live the happiest life with our husband. Although theres many good things to look forward to but there are still some concerns I have about getting older. I hope you got into and passed nursing school with flying colors! (I bet you did because you are really passionate about it). I hope you're making a difference in the lives of all the mothers that chose you to deliver their baby. Providing them comfort and guidance through every step. If you are not exactly where you want to be in life, don't feel discouraged. You have an amazing family and support system that will help you through anything and everything. Just go ask for advice and guidance, they can help you so much more that you think they can. When you are coming upon obstacles, remember what you are working for, remember how much you love it and how much you want it. I hope you remember your whole high school experience. I hope you remember and miss all the football games, dances, and all the amazing teachers that made a huge impact on your life. You are doing great and i'm proud of all you've done so far! Good luck!

Hi future me, I know you're probably busy having a job and taking care of a doggy and hopefully having a healthy relationship. I just wanted to say you worked so hard to get here today and I can't wait to see how and what it's like living my future life. Lets hope you made some better friends because you never had much luck with that. I probably graduated college and now am working in an office. I always wanted to be an ultrasound technician and I know I made that dream come true. I know I probably had hard days and not so good days but that doesn't stop me. Let's hope I'm married and have a awesome spouse. I know i always wanted a pretty wedding with close friends and family. I have accomplished many little things that are great big things to me. I passed high school that is a great accomplishment. Went to college and got my degree as an ultrasound technician. It's 2034 so a lot has happened to you. I probably have many goals to come. I know you always loved working out and I know I'm keeping that goal. My goal when i was younger and when I'm older i've always wanted to eat healthy and stay motivated because it was hard for me when i was a teen but i know it leads to success. Next year I hope that my senior year will fly by and have all the classes I want. I also want to work towards getting a new job because I want a new car soon after high school lets hope i can afford a V8. I'm hoping next year I'll also get another family dog. The most exciting thing I'm excited for is moving into my own house with a family dog and having my dream car. And having my family over and seeing how far I came in life. The future holds so much and I think everyone thinks about it every single day. I'm worried that my dreams won't come true or something traumatic will happen to my parents and I will feel alone but it's all in God's plan and I gotta trust his plan. I'm also worried about what the future holds for everyone in the world and what will happen. I know as an ultrasound tech you're helping a lot of people and new patients every single day. This helps moms see their kids and see their journey with them. I'm making a difference by showing them it's okay if they're scared to have a kid and you always want to be friendly and there for them and be supportive. If i am not where i want to be in a year i would tell myself it's okay because i know i stress over little things and break down because of them. I can't really handle my emotions but I would tell myself to slow down and you're doing great and it's okay some things don't happen the way you want them too. It's all on god's timing and what he wants and what path he has for you and you gotta trust that plan no matter how bad life gets. Everything happens for a reason and till this day I would always remind others and me about that. Failing and deciding what to do next is hard and it's not easy on us because our emotions build up. When dealing with challenges you should do something you love or have a moment and take time to relax and think of a plan that will work for you. Overcoming challenges takes time and I tell myself that and also taking mental breaks will help alot its okay to stop what you're doing and come back to it later because that's how I overcome things. One thing I would always want to remember is my parents surprising me with my first car and that was probably the most special time of my life. And the idea behind this is I worked hard to get a car and my parents surprised me with it after they knew I was saving up for a car. So when things are tough in life and it doesn't go your way good things are always coming your way in the end even though you don't feel like it. I always remind myself that God has a plan for me and everyone around me. He has a path and good endings. Just be patient and trust yourself and work hard because you never wanna give up and there's always light at the end of the tunnel.

Sincerely Ava

Dear future self,

Time is flying by like the flick of a switch. It is unbelievable it has been 2 years since I last checked in with you. By this time, you are already an adult that is in your second year of college. I can’t wait to see the growth and how much you have learned in the past couple of years with being a young adult. After these two years of college, you have finally decided on a career path and which school to transfer to, I’m very happy you were able to make that decision. Not only that but taking the time and saving money by going to community college first. I admire the patience you have by staying at home for those couple of years. I know it is not what you completely wanted but it was the better option, I’m proud of you for that. But whether you decide to continue the student life by transferring to another school to further your education or end up finding a different career path in the time of those community college years, I know whatever you pick will make you happy and make you successful. In two years, people can change a lot, but I know you haven’t completely changed from the last time I heard from you. And I hope most things like close friends, family, and values you had before are still around because they are pretty good ones.

In the next year I will be in the middle of my first year of college. There will be a lot of new and different things, like how I will use my free time, my college schedule compared to a high school schedule, and how I make a living. By this time, I should be grasping what I would like to major in because I’ve always had an idea or two but it's the decision that makes it hard. Other than school, I eat healthy, exercise daily, and keep up working to save up money for more schooling and for my future and I can’t forget about the fun money too.

I see us being happy and healthy with my style of living, being out of high school, and having more freedom to do as I please. Any little thing to better my life I see as an accomplishment because small accomplishments are important too. I have good grades in college and am keeping up with my finances.

My goal that I will be working towards is saving up money to travel. I will always put necessities first and be smart with my money. I believe life is more to a 9-5 job and that seeing and experiencing different things in different areas is my goal, especially in my 20s.

I think this next year will be stressful at first. Something brand new and out of routine is always scary at first, but once I’m going I’ll be just fine.

In future years, I am most excited to have more freedom and abilities. All of my decisions will be on me, which is daunting and exciting at the same time. It will come with age, but independence is extremely important as well.

I know you are worried about becoming distant with your family in years to come, but the phone works both ways and they will always be happy to hear from you. Just make sure to check in, and it won’t be as hard as you think to still make plans with them. You will be able to make time for them.

I know that your purpose is to be the best possible version of yourself. I’m glad that you decided to prioritize yourself in more ways than you used to. Eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and exercising are all important things to you now.

For some future advice, everything always works out, even if it isn’t the way you want it to. Everything happens for a reason, and it is still your path so stay on it no matter how different or difficult it may be.

All the challenges that life throws at you is to your benefit. It may feel like punishment, but it is truly to better yourself and make you stronger. Just remember to not take life so seriously. Remember to have fun, you will appreciate it later in life. You choose the life you want to live, so live happily and enjoy every moment that is offered to you. Good luck to you!

Your past self

Dear future self:

In 10 years, I hope that I have accomplished all of my schooling, with a few years of work experience doing something I love and am passionate for, while still financially successful. I would love to be a stay at home mom, but I also really want to contribute to the income and make good money. I hope in 10 years from now I am living somewhere else, whether it's in-or-out of state and have a family of my own. I am sure that I will be working towards improving myself in my personal and work life. One thing that I am currently worried about with my future, is finding a job that I am financially comfortable with, yet still have a passion for. I hope the year that I am reading this, I am striving for a personal goal or a promotion in my career. Something that I am most excited for years to come and have hopefully accomplished, is making my own descions, starting a family and having kids. If I am not where I want to be, I want to motivate my future self to do things for herself and no one else. When thinking about the challenges that I will overcome, I hope for my future self to just remember where she came from and how hard she worked with everything that she has had to overcome since she was a little kid. Something that I want my future self to remember, is how eager I am for the upcoming chapters in my life, but also how much my high school years have taught me from my relationships with others, to school, to work, etc.. Overall in general, my main goal in life is to be financially comfortable, have a healthy marriage, and a few kids to set that example for aswell.

From, 17 year old me

In 10 years I see myself being married. I also see myself being a dog groomer or in an animal shelter. I will probably be living somewhere warmer too. I'll still have the same hobbies like horseback riding and playing the guitar but I want to learn new things as well. Some things I have accomplished is getting my drivers license and getting through high school. I am working towards graduating right now and also getting better at my sport. One thing i wanna work better at is my self-confidence. I think this year will be a lot better for me once I'm out of high school because it causes me a lot of stress. I'm most excited about getting my dream jobs and traveling the world as much as possible. The things I am worried about is our world. A lot of bad things are happening and i feel like things will continue to get worse. The purpose and difference I want to make is giving the life all animals deserve and saving any animal that i can. If i am not where i wanna be in a year i might need to start talking to someone to see how i can change that. Something that I want my future self to remember is the relationships I have with my friends now and how hard i had to work to get where i am. I want to remember all the fun times we had together because it motivates me too.

Dear Future Self,

In 10 years from now it will be 2034. You should be done with college and hopefully working your dream job either in a hospital or a private practice. You have accomplished so much in the past 10 years, you finally graduated high school and decided to go to Hope College. You met so many people and now some will be lifelong best friends. You decided to major in exercise science so that you could end up going into occupational therapy. Now you are working towards reaching your adult goals, things like buying your first house and having your own family. Hopefully, in the next year, you will be able to achieve those goals if you haven't already. In these next few years to come I am excited to be able to travel and explore the world with my amazing friends or family. But also in the next few years, I am worried about being able to have not only a family but a healthy family. I hope to be serving a greater purpose by choosing to serve the Lord and hopefully be able to go on several mission trips. If we don't end up getting to where we want to be in the next year don't give up on yourself, continue to invest in yourself and the Lord and pray about it. In the next 10 years, there will be plenty of challenges that you will have to face. Surround yourself with amazing people and never give up. I want my future self to remember how amazing high school soccer was so that I can encourage my future kids to really invest in their sports and build not only a team but a whole family.

In 10 years I want to be married and either buying or building a house to start a family. I wish to accomplish my goals in modeling and be a mom. People always say a career for what they want to be when they grow up but I want to be a mom. I guess that is a career though. I have accomplished a lot in goalkeeping for futsal, for example traveling (to Spain and Portugal) for the USA team two times. I learned a lot of useful skills from futsal and I can use them to help me presue real life career dreams. I want to do runway model and beauty commercial modeling when I grow up, so to prepare myself for the future I've already been signed to an modeling agency and doing small jobs. I cant wait for next year, I'm going to switch agencies so they can be more involved in getting me jobs and working at my normal job. what I'm most excited for in the future is having a family. I've always loved kids and love learning about how they grow and view the world. I've also always been a family person and for as long as I can remember and dreamed about being a mom. I'm most excited for being a mother but I'm also very scared. Rasing a child and trying to give them the tools they need to succeed is complicated and different for every child. I just hope I know the tools my children will need and how to teach them the most nutrious lifestlye. I want to make a different in my childrens life's and teach a child to be kind to everyone. Teach people that nature is our home and to love the earth. I want to make a difference by having my kids that know how to communicate properly and treat people with respect. I will have to overcome the challenges of not getting pulled to deep into the modeling business. I've vowed to myself that people can judge what I look like with their own perspectives on life but I wont let it get to me. If at some point it does I will step back from werver the negative comments are coming from. For example, if I get a negative comment online maybe its time to stop being on social media. Something else I want to tell myself is to know when to stop, know when if you are tired. life is about having an enjoyable expirence and di things you love. struggling is a part of it but I cant let it take over my life. Simon is watching over you, even though its been a long time and you aren't in the same house he's with you and always will be. Just look at that star.

Dear future self,

In 10 years I see myself having a family and having the job that I have dreamed of having. I will have graduated college and will be living on a lake somewhere in Michigan.

You have accomplished many things, you graduated high school, and decided to go to Ferris State and major in business management. You have met some of the best friends you will now have for the rest of your life.

I want to be working to live a good and healthy life, with my family. Also, you are reaching to be happy and living life to the fullest, and reaching to own a house.

This next year is going to be crazy while I am starting college and graduating from high school. I am going to have a very busy summer, and be working all day everyday, and finding time to do things I enjoy.

In the future I am excited to be living on my own, and reaching to get my degree in business management. I am hoping to graduate college and find someone who makes me happy and hopefully get married down the road. I am going to focus hard in college and do the best that I can.

I am worried about being stressed out at school, and having to pay for school.

I hope to be serving the path that God intended for me following, I hope to be involved in things I enjoy and go to Church. If I am not where I intended to be I want you to know to keep going because everything happens for a reason and God chose for you not to do something, he always has a better idea for you.

There are going to be many challenges that you are going to face in the years to come, you will be stressed at school and in life in general, just know to keep pushing forward and to keep on going because you will be done eventually and doing something you enjoy everyday.

One thing I hope you remember is hanging out with your friends every weekend and going to do all the fun things you did like going skiing, and going camping, I hope you are still doing those things to get away from reality for a little bit. Good luck!

Dear future self,

It has been 10 years since you wrote this letter. I am sitting in the library, melting wearing my winter coat, and listening to my K-pop and emo music. Right now, you will be 26 years old!! The year will be 2034, which sounds so crazy to me! How are you doing? I hope you are living a fulfilling life! Hopefully, you had a fun rest of high school! Are your parents doing well? Does Dad still work at Lacks? Does Mom still work at DA Blodgett? Nathan will be 24 right now!!! That’s so crazy to me. How was Nathan’s high school career? Is he playing hockey? Hopefully, you have gone to GRCC and maybe GVSU! If you didn’t go to college, did you find a fun career? I hope you have found a fun job that makes lots of money. I wonder if you went into the medical field or if you went a more artistic route. Did you ever get to go to any more concerts? Did you ever get to go to a rave? Did you finally get the piercings and tattoos you wanted? I currently want some more ear and lip piercings! I also want some mermaid and fairy tattoos. Hopefully, you are married to an amazing partner! Did you get your fairy wedding? How many cats do you have?? I know you must have a lot of cats!! Or do you maybe have some dogs? I hope you have a nice cottage in a warm field. I hope you live in the countryside, away from the city. Did you eventually get your license? I am avoiding driving because it is so scary!! Are you still friends with Ash, Aliya, and Avery? Right now I am having problems with Ash and Aliya. On Saturday, the junior varsity got 1st place in our winter guard competition!! I hope you joined the GVSU Winter Guard!! I also hope I make varsity winter guard next year! I hope you have gotten to visit outside of the country, at least to Canada! Are your grandparents doing well? How is Aunt Emma? How is Grayson? I hope you get to go to more amusement parks and get to ride more roller coasters! I am worried about moving away from my family and getting a job. I hope you stay close to your family!! If you went into the medical field, I hope you help lots of people! Okay, listen to me future self!! If you are ever struggling, remember that things get better, and nothing lasts forever! Do you still struggle with pancreatitis or did we get over it? Hopefully, we are better by now!! Remember if you go to college, you are very smart and talented! If you go into a career, remember you are very strong and hardworking! Remember to never give up and be scared to try new things, because they are very worth it. I tried out for winter guard even though I was terrified and it was the best thing that happened to me. Remember to keep yourself happy and healthy!! I love you so much!!!

Love, your past self.

Dear Future Self, I see that it has been ten years. I hope you are working hard. By now you are 27 years old. Almost tot thirty! I know our girlfriend or maybe even wife is a model so I wont ask you about that. I Heard that you landed yourself a job at the hospital, working as a resident. I also heard that you were done with diving, I figured, but thats still sad. I guess you are working towards becoming a surgeon in Tennessee, I hope that you can do that its really cool over there. I think you'll do great this year, everything is falling into place and your gunna succeed. I hope your excited to make some money and buy your first house. Im super excited to do that. I hope that work istn consuming you though. You should also be with your friends and family as much as you can, you want to keep those relationships. I am worried that that could happen to us. I know that you have already saved some lives. I hope you keep doing so. Keep helping people, its the right thing to do. Your making a difference for the better in this world, your being guided but you will guide others another ten years from now. Keep doing what you like to do, if you come to find that you dont like it, thats ok. Don't force yourself into a profession that you wont like. I know that you'll make the right decision and be happy no matter what. I think that when you have a challenge to face, just think about your past. As an adult you'll feel pressured to make adult decision, but sometimes the ideas and thoughts of a kid are much better and wiser. I hope that you still rememebr diving. It is something that I know Ill lose at some point but its something I dont want too. We had great memories diving and is what gave us this future that you have now. I hope that sticks with you forever. Just think back to how we pushed through during practice and competitions and the results and opportunities that it gave us. Anyways, Ill check back up on you in another ten years. I hope all is well.

Till next time,

Julian

Dear future self,

In ten years from now i will be the age of 28 and i hope to have a ton of money so much i will be able to bring 100$ to the casino every weekend and lose it and not have it be a financial burden. i hope to have a medium sized house on 10 acres of land with few neighbors so i can do all the dumb stuff i want and have no problems. ideally i would like to have a girlfriend but its whatever at the end of the day, as long as i can have fun and mess around that all i care about. i hope by then i have accomplished getting my degree in heating and cooling so i can work hard for the rest of my life. i will be wanting to work towards being a better version of myself by lifting heavy weights daily so i can keep my strength up. i thunk in one year i will be an absolute unit working hard at my apprenticeship and seeing my work through then end. i am most excited to turn 21 because i will be taking a wonderful trip to Las Vegas and i will be allowed to do all the fun things i could think of as in the age limit states have. i am most worried about how life os going to go like if im going to die or if i get fired,or if i break my leg but at the end of the day its all a mystery. my greater purpose if to keep people happy if you can put a smile on someone's face once a day its a win in my book because they can have a better perspective on life. if im not where i am in a year i will tell myself to work harder and that nothing ever comes easy in life I have to work and strive to achieve greatness it just doesn't come to you. i would say never give up persevere and see it all the way through even when something is hard. i would like my future self to remember the coming up rugby season because it is going to be a wonderful season.

Dear future self,

8 years from now, I have been married and already have a little one. I had a great time in college at Ferris State and got a Bachelor's degree in construction management. Having this great opportunity led to finally buying my first house and having a great job getting good money. Some things I am looking forward to doing are traveling more with my wife and having more kids. Moving into a new house has been a stressful year, but I'm also beyond excited to do so. One thing I am worried about for more years to come is how my body is going to hold up with doing hard labor work and due to injuries before. I have been making a better version of myself and growing a family in Grand Rapids. I've been working hard to make a great difference in my family so they can be the best of themselves. Some advice to give to myself is to keep following your dreams and keep pushing threw the hard times. When the times are tough on the road of life, you've got to just keep pushing because life is hard and it is what you make it. Something I want my future self to know right now is my knee is still holding up and doing the things I like doing. I'm still doing good in KCTC and having a good time in that class and trying to get to my goal to be a construction manager and also to complete college and have a good time.

I have would have accomplished by then becoming a financial banker and or quant, as well as having stocks now that had 10 years to grow helping me achieve this goal. i want to be working towards growing my wealth and becoming finaincially stable and happy in life. this next year its going to be a slow and steady process, of may losses and gains, but overall gains woll be good but slow. im most excited to have grown my income and being able to have money to make money. theres a famous saying that says have your money work for you. im most worried about having to work a bad job in college. Being rich ill be able to serve a greater purpose then myself, whihc is being able to donate money to dog and homeless shelters. it will help make a diffrence for ppl to be safe and help ouyt these animals. Its okay if im not where i want to be in a year from now, what matters is learning and accumalating knowledge and wealth over the years. i need to tell myself im the best and have to be a top one percenter to be able to do this and be successful. I want myself to be aware of my self thats so willing to learns and have fun throught this whole process. a good memory i have is makig my first grand with stocks, it will help keep me inspired for the future to keep moving forward.

Dear future self,

How are you doing I’m doing well myself I’m in my senior year right now and am working towards college. I plan on going into mechanical engineering or something of the sorts my two options right now are Montana State University and University of Michigan if I get in somehow, so I guess that ones not really much of an option but I like to think of it as one. Montana State should be nice let me know how it is, it looks really beautiful. I hope that the scenery is all that is cracked up to be. I’m kinda worried about being so far from home for so long but you managed so i'm sure it’ll work out. My AP classes have been going well I wish I had just taken AP classes in prior years because it hasn't been that difficult. I heard you got a job working on renewable energy good job putting that degree to work. When you write back tell me all about what you’ve done i'm really excited to know what places I’ve visited and the people I’ve met. If you’re having some trouble on what to do next try taking it slow for a while maybe move back to Michigan and relax for a while. Don’t forget about all the good memories we’ve made here swimming and boating this state is really good for stuff like that.

Sincerely yourself from 10 years ago

Dear future self,

The year is 2034 and you have accomplished so much in ten years. You got your degree from high school and graduated from college wherever you choose. You have traveled to all the places you wanted and saw so much. You have a dog that you love and are thinking about getting another one. I hope you have a family and at least one kid. Hopefully, you have a nice house with some farm animals. I hope you work toward helping people in need and improving the world. This next year you will focus on yourself and your family and try to be the best you can be. You are also trying to give back to your community more because you love it so much. You are excited to see your family grow and watch your kids grow up together and see what they will turn out to be and where their lives will take them. You are scared to see your parents get old and what will happen to them. You hope that you can make a difference in at least one person's life by giving them advice also you hope to travel and build houses to help people in need. If a bump hits the road just remember that you went through so much in high school and you overcame it so you can overcome this. Also, remember that life's not perfect and everyone has setbacks get over them and focus on how you can fix the problem don't focus on the negative. And just remember that one coach you had and how bad he treated you and how you got over it because you are strong, and no one should have had to deal with that at your age but you overcame that.

You are making a huge difference by spreading the gospel to people who don't believe in God, if you aren't exactly where you want to be that's okay you will get there soon enough you just have to be patient. Don't worry about the challenge that you will have to overcome it is all part of our story, remember how far you have come from this letter right now, a lot of things have happened good and bad but you've grown a ton!

Good luck! You've got this!

-your past self 2024

Dear future self,

Two years from now, you will know where you are going to attend college or if you chose a different route. Hopefully, you have accomplished a few things such as graduating high school, starting a job, or even just doing well mentally. You will likely be working towards getting better in volleyball and keeping a good relationship with your family. I think this next year will go well, considering it's my last year of high school. And I will be having tons of fun. I am most excited to see where my path leads me. And If I am still playing volleyball, and if I am in college what am I studying? I am worried about leaving home. A place where I spent my life as a child. Along with leaving family. You are now making a difference meaning you are spreading positivity around the world. and are serving as a shoulder to lean on for whoever needs it. Just because you aren't where you want to be now doesn't mean you won't end up there. Maybe your path is longer than those around you. Just continue and you will get there. You have already overcome some hard challenges so now is not the time to give up. just remember The hardest challenges are for the strongest people. You got this. Just remember that as soon as you chose to do the things you loved and be around the people you admired. You shortly became happier. You just have to do what is right for you and only you. Bes of luck future Langston.

Dear future self,

4 years from now, it will be 2028 and you will be getting ready to graduate from college. These past 4 years will have been difficult but you have worked hard and made your way through.

Over these years, you have accomplished so much. Getting through all of your classes, and now getting ready to go out into "the real world". I hope you also stuck with dance because I love it right now as a senior in high school, and I hope you feel the same as a senior in college.

In 4 years I hope you are working towards finding a job that you love and that you have worked hard to be able to do while in college. I hope you are working towards being able to live fully on your own and taking on all of the responsibilities that come with adulting.

I think this next year will be difficult but you will learn so much. The first year out of school will be hard to navigate but remember to always ask for help if you need it and you can do anything you put your mind to. You will have your own job and place to live and be able to take care of yourself which I think is pretty cool.

In the years to come, I can't wait to see what your career looks like and the process it takes to get there. I am excited about all of the people you will meet and the memories you will make with them. I love making memories and doing fun things with my friends now and I know you will continue to with so many new people that you meet.

I am the most worried about managing adult life because it's a lot to take on at once and it can be scary but you are surrounded by so many loving people that I know will help you with anything and everything. A greater purpose you are serving is I hope you will always put others before yourself. Whenever someone needs help or someone to talk to, I want you to be there for them. Make a difference by showing kindness wherever you go and just being a good human.

If you aren't where you want to be, just know that it's okay. Things take time and don't always go according to our timeline. God has the perfect plan for your life and if something isn't happening when you want it to, it's for a reason.

If you face challenges (which you will) just remember that you have overcome struggles in your life so far so you can do this one too. Remember it's okay to take breaks but you also need to work hard and always do your best.

I want you to remember how happy you have been during your senior year of high school and to always be outgoing and just surround yourself with people that make you feel good. I want you to remember going to Nationals with your dance team and how much fun it was with all of your friends and that never would have happened if you weren't been outgoing. Remember how grateful you are for that team and use it as motivation when you feel down.

I know you have an incredible life ahead of you and I hope you live it to the fullest.

Hi Future self,

I know 10 years from now, life is not going to look the same. In the year 2034 Hopefully your finishing up med school, and about to find your place working with great people either in a hospital or a private practice. You have done so much over the past ten years, lets take a second to look over all your accomplishments! You Graduated from Rockford High School, walking out with some great life long friends, and a girls soccer state champoin ring! You attended Western Michigan Univeristy and went to their honors college your freshmen year, you either stayed with it or transfered out of state to somewhere you feel you belong. You traveled the world troughout your years college, finding who your are, and seeing how beautiful our world is. After you graduated from college, with a degree in biomedical sciences, you got into a great medical school where you thrived and discovered your love for medical research. Outside of school you have gotten married and are living in a small home that you and your spouse have decorated to perfection, making it feel truly yours, it has a big yard so your dogs have lots of space to play fetch.

You have so many exciting things coming your way, like graduating med school, having kids, becoming a aunt. Although you are in a great spot in life, you still have many things that are taking up your mind. You are stressed about the major toll college and med school are taking on your finaces right now, you are worried that those debts are going to not allow you to feel like you have finacial freedom. You also want to start a family however because of school, you fear you wont have enough time to take care of a child and truly bond with them. But the bad is defiently over weighed by the good. Because of your medical research knowledge you have understood the term of animal testing and it has become something that you are super passionate to stop, your dreams after school are to have a job in medical research, aswell as running a non-profit to help end all medical testing on animals. You are 100% capable of having the life you have always dreamed of, but you have to work towards it, because it wont just happen on its own. Just remember there was a time you didnt know that there was life outside of being 18.

love, your past self!

To myself in 10 years,

In 10 years I will be 28. I hope you are married and have at least 2 kids. I hope you are happily moved in with your husband with a golden retriever. I have graduated college at Michigan State from my 4 years of hard work. Believe it or not you made it. I hope you have a bachelors degree and were able to find the career you enjoy. I hope you are continuing the degree and have created the life you wanted. I hope you were able to travel to all the places you wanted and that your wedding was what you have dreamed of. You have so many great things ahead of you such as growing your family ad growing as an individual. I hope you still have a strong relationship with your parents and see them often. I hope you still share the empathy for others you have always had, and are able to use that in your day to day life. I hope that everyone is happy ad healthy at the time. I want to have a stable job at the time and be able to provide for my family. I hope you now have started turning into the person you wanted to and have found yourself finally. I would give myself the advice of pushing through, and remembering all you have gotten through. Do not give up and look at how far you have made it. I want to remember my high school and college memories and the friendships I created on the way. All of the friends I created and how far they have come since we met.

Love your past self!

Dear future self, In 5 years you will be working hard in education. You will be 23 years of age. You will hopefully be helping out with daycares too. Hopefully you have accomplished what you wanted to. I hope you and your friends are still good and moving along in life. I hope you have enough money to support your dreams. I hope you moved out by now and are still doing well with the money. Maybe you will have a shawty and you also have a dog. I hope by this time in my future I will be out of any debt that I potentially get myself into. I hope I accomplish my fitness goals and eating goals. I'm most worried about not having money and being homeless. My greater purpose is to put smiles on peoples faces daily. I hope I don't give up on any of my dreams and I pursue whatever it is that I want.

Dear Future self,

In 10 years it will be the year 2034. You should be done with college and done with baseball, and working the job you worked hard for. In 10 years I see you at WMTL working in sales with Uncle Joe. Hopefully, by now you are married and have some kids like you've always dreamed of. Hopefully, you are working hard and providing all that you can for your family. Id say that your kids will be around 3 years old right now, so hopefully your house has a huge backyard so you can teach your boys and girls how to play baseball and softball just like you did. By now you should have accomplished everything that you dreamed of, but there are many more years ahead of you to get everything you want. Hopefully, you are working your way up in your job, and when Uncle Joe retires you will become the owner/boss of WMTL. Next year should be pretty much the same as this year and maybe you and your wide will be expecting another kid and you will be getting ready for that. In the near future I see you being very excited for your kids, they should be about ready to start school and getting into sports. Hopefully, you will be the coach as you've always wanted to coach a baseball or softball team. Maybe after you regular job you get to leave and go coach a high school baseball team. I would love to coach Rockford. I see you being worried about being successful and providing for your family. At 18 you're worried about that and I don't see that changing at all. Right now your main goals in life are, continuing your Moms legacy, being successful, becoming a college baseball player and getting ready to go into the real world. If you aren't where you want to be right now, continue working hard and never give up. If you continue working hard you will become successful and you will get what you want. I promise. Something that I think you should know is that Mom is really proud of you and she will always be watching over you. You are doing an amazing job and keep working hard. Somethings I want you to remember right now is your best friends are JJ, Trey, Presley, Andrew, Gabe, Sam and Aidan. You are writing this on February 29th, 2024 and in about a week you will be trying out for your senior year of baseball. I know I am very proud of you and what you have accomplished so far, keep working hard, know that God loves you and he has a great plan for what is to come.

Dear future self,

I hope in 10 years you are doing well as an insurance broker and have got the learning curve down. Perhaps even gotten a promotion or a special treatment due to your excessive hard work that you should be devoted to. I hope you have traveled a bit and even explored some more of your unearthed interests without being afraid of disappointment. I hope you have been saving money and focusing on getting that currency that hold power to all. I think this next year is going to be amazing and I hope you still remember the life skills you have been taught from this class. I'm really excited of the things we might try or pursue in the future. Are you still worried of where you're heading in life? Have you made a plan? Hopefully we are achieving greatness in a way we see fit towards ourselves. I also hope you graduated two tris' early like you have been committed to. You got this just stay on track and keep organized. Have you bought a whiteboard to keep track of your schedule? Have you really written on it? What has changed in your life because of it? Hopefully it only brought a positive change because we both know how you are with being stingy on money. Did you get tested for ADHD yet, or should we just keep pretending like it's not effecting how I learn and just enjoy my natural ability to never do things on task. Above all else I just hope you are happy but not content because I want you to be the best you possibly can me. Always remember who you are, you are not someone who needs pretending to be someone else. Being you, which is me, is all I can ask from you right now.
