in the first session we was introduced to the module we were told our groups for the short film we discussed that a short film is obviously shorter then a normal film but usually has a moral message to it and it is easier to show the skills i will learn in the module it is also a lot easier and a lot more feasible and cheaper then making a feature film

Synopsis

Sam, early twenties, works at a coffee shop, his co-workers think he is the life of the party; but, not everything is how it appears.

One day, Sam, after having lightened everyone's day at work, comes home to a bleak reality: his inner depression, due to exhaustion of forcing himself to be happy everday. He, opposed to the suggested life his coworkers believe, eats a microwave ready meal, and watches telly, in effort to rest and recharge for the next day when he has to to force his smile for his coworkers and customers so that they'll be happy and like him. He goes into work the next day, forces his smile and leaves for home again: a successful day. Now back at the house, Sam oversleeps that makes him rush to get work the next morning, he no longer has the energy to keep appearances up; after several mistakes made serving customers, a coworker notices and informs Sam that no one is happy everyday, all the time, nor should they be. In life we have good days and we have bad days, but even a good day is at least 30% bad.

the bit of feedback we got was thats we needed to be careful thats with a strong moral message that we need to make it less child like so it actually enjoyable for all audiances

the setting for our film will be a coffee shop we wanted a coffee shop that was modern but also had a lot of grey and dark colours this was to reflect how Sam really thought about him self . therefore the cafe we pick fit this it was also ideal as chole parents owned it therefore it was easy to be able and aloud to film there Chris and chole went there to look over it and make sure it was ideal for filming tests shots

we wanted to have a dark and dim lit vibe to the location of Sam's houses therefore we used Chris flat and uses low level lighting

similarly , the apron used in the piece had symbolism Sam had a black apron which has connotations of darkness and depression were mark wear had a blue apron which had conations of traquil and loyal these reflect the role of mark being the guideing light in sams life

2nd session

in the 2nd session my group came up with there beginning idea for the plot of the story they came up with the idea of a man being really happy and full of life and that is cover up how sad and down he really feels in real life and is just trying to cover it up

3rd session

in this session we went through script writeing and dissused how you are meant to layout your script and then as a group we began to write out the script

filming day one

In the first day of filming we were in the coffee shop that we hired the use of when i arrived i got the location release forms signed and then set up the cameras and lighting while for the first shot then waited for the actors to arrive we then gave them there costumes and the got them to sign the actor consent forms the director went of what shots we has planned the main issues were that the ice machine was making a lot of noise to we had to turn that of briefly during takes . the day was a sucesses and we got everthing we wanted to get done done in the time we were there

filming day two

the second day we were also filming in the coffee shop there was an issues to begin with as we couldn't contact the main actor and they weren't there when we planed to film but in time that issues was resolved and we managed to get all the filming for that location finished

editing process

overall the editing process went well the main issues were the ice machine making lot s of mess and the shots we had filmed had not flowed as well as i would have wished then too

storyline and writing issues

an problem i found when listening too the actors performance the scene i found that some of lines were cheesy and not naturalistic therefore it my be difficult for the audience to attach with the storyline

also there storyline is very basic and not much really happiness there no big twist to excited the audience .

filming day three

on the third day of filming everything went well we were in Sam flat filming the main problems that we needed to overcome were

the other people in the flat playing music and causing too much noises and the flat was quite small so it hard to get everyone in and out of shot

the risk assessment was very straight forward for both location there were few changes to the regular pre-set risk assessment which were the uses of a microwave and water in the mugs the actors had which the did use not the microwave meal we did uses but as says on the boxs cooking right and making sure it was safe for him , the actor , to hold it .
