Triple Bottom Line Justification

Kiva Link: https://www.kiva.org/lend/2099764
Jay from Fern Co. is a local organic farmer in Montana looking to loan money for a new machine to help with efficient cropping. The term of the loan is 42 months and totals to $9,500. The triple bottom line addresses people, the planet and profit. Loaning to a small agricultural farmer will help his community with organic produce at affordable prices. It supports the people in his community with nutritional options that are not sourced in corporate stores such as Walmart or Target. Jay is also looking to educate others on his farming techniques to carry the next generation of farmers. This is an environmentally-friendly loan to make, due to the organic materials of carbon, water, and soil (as stated in his description.) He has almost reached his fundraising goal, so it is looking to be profitable.

Kiva Business Strategy Level Strategy - Bosco, ElectroSpit's

Kiva Link: https://www.kiva.org/lend/2094950?minimal=false
ElectroSpit Inc. has created a new instrument with the background knowledge of music tech hardware and mechanical engineering. The business strategy that I would select for this product would be the differentiation focus strategy. This is when the firm seeks to differentiate in its target market. I chose this strategy because Bosco advertises the firm as the "World's first black and women-owned music tech hardware company". The firm could expand by targeting its audience to professional orchestras, performance centers/broadway, and music education programs. It could also incorporate charitable causes such as musical therapy facilities that help with trauma recovery.

For value chain activities, ElectroSpit can focus on technology development, procurement, and marketing/sales. ElectroSpit is built on the combination of mechanical engineering and music advancement. With Bosco's USC higher education degree and focus on music development, he is innovative with a new instrument and the first "black and women-owned music tech hardware company" as a niche to market the brand. This reinforces the state-of-the-art engineering that is used in this innovative instrument. For procurement usage, Bosco can purchase high-quality components that enhance the product such as packaging materials and sustainability in outsourcing the product. For creative marketing, the brand can partner with entertainment services to use the new instrument through orchestra and performance. As well as the aforementioned musical therapy facilities.
