Peris contributed a lot to Tally's influence at the beginning of the novel because he connected with Tally’s personality. Although Peris helped to develop a strong friendship with Tally, he does not appear much in the book. At first, he brings Tally an adventure to find his destiny. In our opinion, we have expected to see Peris more often in the novel because he is at the base of all the adventures of Tally. It's unbearable because he lives in Pretty Town and Tally lives in Ugly Town. Peris was a fun and crazy person in the city of uglies, but when he arrived in the Pretty town, he became a pretty good person, he began to worry about himself. He held out that before he had anything to do with it, he did not enjoy himself as much as in the city of uglies.

Hello community, I'm John Lavar one of the biggest  journalist from the Smoke. We need help to survive! Right now, The Special Circumstances is taking all the territories. They are bombing the city with helicopters and most of the population is being captured by them. It's the chaos! All the people are extremely mad about the special circumstances because they do not want to be imported into the pretty side.The smokies need to protect themselves, because The Special Circumstances are destroying everything. All the house are getting destroyed and burned. They want to take control on the city. We lost everything we built for years. If there are still people hidden, be careful because there are guards all around the city. I advise you to stay hidden!   

- Solidarity
Tally specially show solidarity toward her friends:
She proves us several times in the book that she is someone loyal mostly with is friends Shay and Peris. Let’s talk about Shay, Tally sworn to respect her promise by not to reveal the position of the Smoke Village or decoding it by anyways to anyone. You may say that she didn’t respect her promise with Peris, but she didn’t put herself in trouble she has tried to escape the problem that Shay could’d give to her.

-Quote:
Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.




- Lies
Thru the book, we have seen a lot of moment about lies. For example the biggest lie that the book informs us is that they, during the operation, damage your brain by purpose to make you think slower and other stuffs. We also have this part where Tally had tried to get a bungee jacket with David, she lied to the uglies by telling them that they are in a transition period. There is plenty more in the book. I consider the lie as the biggest theme of the book due to the quantity that the writer has left us in the novel.

- Quote:
I'm not upset that you lied to me. I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you. (this is a perfect quote for Tally toward Pretty Town.)

Tally - Shay

Similarities: 
-They are both adventurous (Tally follow Shay and Shay is trying to the Smoke) 

-They like to break the rules (rebels) for example at the beginning of the book they meet others by breaking the rules. (being on the pretties territory)

- Brave, they tried to resist the special circumstances during the surprise invasion.


Differences: 
-Shay thinks that it's possible to be pretty while being judge “ugly” by the society that they live in.

-Tally isn’t loyal (on the other side Shay is.), and that her biggest weakness, she had betrayed his friend (Peris) to be with Shay and keep her promise with her (to not reveal the position of the Smoke).
-Tally have a low self-esteem because she can’t consider herself pretty because she didn’t get the operation and on the other hand, Shay think she is beautiful the way she is originally.

I found that the book was good, but unfortunately we do not recommend this reading. From my point of view, i findt this reading quite difficult. This is a good action book, but unfortunately there is too much unnecessary details. For example, there is too many details on the cities that Tally goes to like The Smoke, Ugly Town and Pretty Town. Also, we think that there was a lot of characters and we couldn’t keep track on the names and the personality of the characters. Furthermore, we found that the chapters were too long and readers like us will found this book difficult to read. Some words were also complex to understand. Briefly, we do not recommend that book because it is difficult.
