The novel generated the fear of our imagination and of the unknown. Yet the novel was not the first of its time and it would not be the last either. Frankenstein has many connections to other novels and stories such as Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Herbert West: Re-Animator, The Creation of Man by Prometheus, and Paradise Lost. In fact, Frankenstein's second name is The Modern Prometheus. Prometheus was the wisest among the titans in J.M. Hunt's story. As well as in Frankenstein, Victor was very wise and the smartest among all the characters. Both characters tried to "play God" by Victor trying to bring back the dead and Prometheus bringing fire to a man after playing a trick to Zeus. Satan tries to overthrow God because it is in his rebellious and arrogant nature. Frankenstein's love of science is the only thing that motivates him to experiment.
