A fast shutter speed is all depended on what you are shooting, because if were shooting a landscape I would shoot with a 1/250 shutter speed to have the image nice and sharp. But when I am shooting something fast moving like a wave or a surfer I like to shoot at a minimum shutter speed of 1/1500 to keep the image sharp because I have found that anything less I will not produce perfectly sharp images.
