It's originally made from an Ilocano wine called "Basi", wherein the sugarcane is cooked into a molasses-like syrup, where it is further left to ferment into a light, sweet sugarcane vinegar. 

However, despite being produced for over how many years, how come the province haven't yet come up with a local brand that they could release and make available on groceries or supermarkets? Sure, Datu Puti has their own version but it lacks originality and authenticity. 

Same goes with Ilocos Norte's abundance in mangoes. Ilocos Norte is known in economics for its abundance of products from the agriculture industry, starting from rice grains, to garlic, corn crops, up to various seafoods. Same goes with their arts & crafts, 'inabel' is one of the prides of the province, even of the country, due to its traditional yet very intricate weaving design. 

However, given these products, I noticed how our province is still quite inefficient when it comes to product development and innovation. The produces are usually limited only to the province, instead of vastly exporting them to other parts of the country or even just in the markets. 

Thus, in my opinion, this could be done by leveling up their marketing strategies to further attract investors that could help make the country's goals happen. Eventually, not only that the demand of labor that these innovations offer could give job opportunities to unemployed citizens, but also, it could help promote sustainable industries.
