We silence them because well intentioned people (mostly White people) claim to know and understand what it means to be a Black person in America. You can read all the articles and books you want, but you will never know what it is like to walk in someone else's shoes.

Special education, despite having seemingly good intentions, is, in many ways, a modern iteration/tool of segregation. Students are put into special ed. and parents are expected to comply and see it as a supportive move

Feeling isolated, low expectations, lack of trust, micro aggressions . to give them voice we can engage in culturally responsive practices (address implicit racial discrimination) and empower parent advocacy (provide resources, build networks)
