Learners take knowledge easier when they feel good, they are being acceptable, they are crowded by friends. So why shouldn’t we do everything to enable them this?

When it comes to the video, I don’t identify with none of these, but I have some thoughts about those SEN. I’m thinking of being a mother of a child with SEN and I’m wondering how would I behave at this situation. I can say, these parents are wonderful. They care so much, they are so supportive, full of passion, full of patience. I admire them. I wish I had this kind of attitude if I were them.

And when it comes to my own experience, unfortunately, I don’t think I have any. As the teacher I didn’t have any student with SEN and during my own education, there wasn’t any of them in my classes. At least I didn’t know about them. But when I hear about it, I think teachers tend to split students for ordinary students and those who require more attention. I think it’s unfair and brutal. Because they are not worse than those ‘ordinary' students and didn’t choose it. They just have it. As future teachers we should take care of them and provide enough support.

I had two boys with dyslexia in high school. They were class rascals, everyone thought of them as losers because they always got low grades. It probably made them believe that they were hopeless and they had no motivation to work on themselves. In retrospect, I know that children should be more understanding and empathetic. But how could we know about their problems? Children are not taught about SEN in schools.

Based on what you have learned in this module, think about how you can make a foreign language classroom more inclusive and an easier place to work in for students with dyslexia.

First of all, I would focus on adapting the methods to the needs of each student. Using, for example, a learning apps, I would adjust the tasks to each student. When conducting classes, I would try to speak very clearly and correctly, so that they would remember the phonetics well and would be able to repeat after me. I would also try to diversify my classes in such a way as to use all their senses. In case of visual difficulties, I would prepare materials in appropriate colors, easy to read. We would repeat new words for a long time so that they would remember them well. Then we would use them in subsequent exercises. Until it becomes automatic.
