The Different Mechanisms

Pancreas' cell signaling should involve the regular coupled receptors and second messenger interaction. It involves the protein K-Ras and cAMP in order for a signal to reach target cells. What should happen is that GDP will activate the protein when a stimuli occurs. The protein then transmits the signal to an enzyme that spits out the signal with ATP. ATP is used by cAMP to transport the signal to the nucleus. A mutation of the protein K-Ras causes it to bypasses the need for receptor activation. The malfunction in the cell communication is between the signal and the receptor. This means that a cell's signal to grow is always on which leads to the uncontrollable growth of cells leading to tumors. The tumors on the pancreas is the cancer.

Pancreatic Cancer is caused when cells of the pancreas grow abnormally to form a tumor. The formation of the tumor inhibits function in the pancreas, leading to a variety of problems with digestion and nutrition. Major symptoms of the disease include yellowing of the eyes and skin, pain in abdomen and back, weight loss, and fatigue. Many people also experience a severe lack of appetite, that can lead to under-nutrition. Pancreatic Cancer is one of the most deadly cancers known. 92.3% of people diagnosed with the disease will die within five years of diagnoses.
