An Evolutionary Explanation of Human Sexuality

How might an evolutionary psychologist explain gender differences in mating preferences?
An evolutionary explanation of human sexuality is that men are much more eager to have sex than a woman is. This is because, the more a man sleeps with a women, his chances of spreading his genes increase. Women on the other hand, because they are the ones who give birth to the children, try to search for a partner who has good resources and a good potential for a long-term relationship. They are not as eager to jump into bed with a stranger.

Men are more likely to initiate sexual activity then women.

Men have lower thresholds for perceiving warm/friendly, responses from women as a sexual turn-on. This is what results in most of (not all) causes of harassment and rape.

Nature selects behaviors that increase the likelihood of sending ones genes into the future.
