This ambition is not very realistic because it only suits what he likes rather than the family. Although you would assume that lots of people would go to a liquor store to drink, it seems that type of job would not last long lest earn Walter any money. Some obstacles for this character would be finding the right career for him that he would like, the family would like, and would support his family. One strength that might allow him to overcome these obstacles could be his strong sense of hope all the time because it would make him feel like there is something else that would please him and help the family. Having a dream where you must make the most important people around you feel happy seems like something that can be achieved because there is always an opportunity to try and make someone feel this way. Some obstacles for this character might be the disagreeing feeling that the other people might feel because they do not wish to listen to her and defer her dreams. Some strengths Ruth might have to overcome these obstacles could be the amount of fondness she has for her family members and the knowledge of how to make others feel good. I think she will achieve this ambition because over time, people will end up being happy after someone helps them out. However, thinking back on the time period the play is written and the background the Younger family come from, I do not think this dream is very realistic. Some obstacles she might face would be the amount of disagreement she gets because she is female and is African American. Some strengths that she might have to help her overcome these obstacles would be her openness to other ambitions like trying to play the guitar.
