Liberty Island and Ellis IslandAs you have seen in thousands of images, the Statue of Liberty is located on a small island. Its name is Liberty Island and it is located in the Hudson River bay, so the only way to get there is by boat.Miss Liberty's real name is Liberty Enlightening the World , something like Liberty Lighting the World , and it was a gift from France to the United States to commemorate the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence.

The statue holds a torch in one hand and a book of law inscribed with the date of the Declaration of Independence in the other. She stands a little more than 300 feet tall and is made of copper, which has oxidized over time to create her signature green patina. To make the most of your visit to this UNESCO World Heritage Site, consider these key tips.

Disadvantage: The pedestal stands at about half the height of the monument and boasts panoramic views of New Jersey, New York City, the New York Harbor and Ellis Island. Brave-hearted visitors will want to take the narrow, double-helix steps to the statue's crown for bird's-eye views of the city. There are 162 steps from the top of the pedestal to the top of the crown.

Impossible not to remember the attacks of September 11 in New York, it is one of those things in history that impact you so much that you will always know what you were doing, where you were, who you were with on the day of the attacks on the Twin Towers in New York.

Location of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum: The Memorial and Museum on September 11, English National September 11 Memorial & Museum is located exactly where the Twin Towers were located, and consists of two parts.

The Museum, where you can see all the events that happened in the terrible attack of September 11, 2001, objects that were found among the rubble, the staircase of the survivors, .., a museum necessary but not suitable for people very sensitively. It also includes information on the 1993 attack.

The Memorial, built in the attached plaza: It is a monument in which the foundations of each Twin Tower are marked by a huge hole with a waterfall 30 meters high and where around we can see the names of the people who died in the terrible attack.

Disadvantage: Access to the square is free and open, but in order to enter the museum you must pay an entrance, which is included in all New York tourist cards. It is curious and moving at the same time that in the bustle of the Financial District we find a place with hardly any noise, with so much peace, and where the water of the waterfalls can be heard perfectly while visiting the Memorial.

The controversial construction of the Rockefeller Center: The Rockefeller family wanted to give the complex opulence and elegance to show its power, for it did not spare the time to include art exhibitions murals, sculptures, etc. The Mexican artist Diego Rivera, very famous at that time, was in charge of painting the Rockefeller Center lobby mural. But shortly before finishing his work was discarded, it seems that his sympathy for communism was too reflected in his drawings. Finally, it was the Catalan Josep Mari Sert who was in charge of covering Rivera's unfinished mural and giving another focus to the lobby walls that can still be seen today.

At the time, New Yorkers didn't seem to like it, but little by little they got used to it. The complex still stands after so many years and millions of tourists visit it every year, which makes it emblematic.

Some curious facts about the buildings of the complexIn total 19 buildings make up the Rockefeller Center complex, but the most important of all is the GE (General Electric) Building, the tallest of all, also known as 30 Rock. At the top of this skyscraper is the Top of the Rock, the best viewpoint in New York.

At 30 Rockefeller Plaza, that is to say the GE building and specifically on the 65th floor, there is one of the most exclusive restaurants with the best views in New York: the Rainbown Room. It is one of the tallest restaurants in New York, second only to the One Dine at the One World Trade Center (floor 101).

The most famous event held at Rockefeller Center is the lighting of the famous Christmas Tree. The fir tree that they bring from different parts of the US every year is the biggest Christmas star in New York. This tradition began during its construction, when workers put up a small tree to celebrate Christmas in 1931.
