The Age of Imperialism was a time during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that was caused by a variety of factors, and was connected to the Industrial Revolution. The need for raw materials and new markets were the primary economic reasons for why the Europeans colonized. The imperial powers further justified their expansion by saying they had a moral obligation to bring a polite aspect and religion to the newly conquered people. Imperialism led to numerous societal changes in the colonies, some that were irreversible because the identities of the colonies were forever altered by the experience.

One case was an economic case which justifies that they need more colonial expansion so that they can export markets better. A second case is a cultural and racial and that is that the superior races have more rights and they have a job to control the inferior races. Another was the idea of religion and that was giving them a light for commerce and trade so that they can find a path. Lastly was a nationalistic approach which meant their manpower could be greater and that could be a good economic increase and will begin their culture.

Nationalism is related to pride in one's country but imperialism goes with nationalism because sometimes it causes people to gain land beyond one's borders. They are related for that reason, the intense pride in a certain country leds to things like dying for the country or fighting for the country's benefit. An example can be how the idea of nationalism was often used by imperialists to justify colonization. They are prideful enough to fight for what they desire, so yes I do feel that to have imperialism you have to have nationalism.

Nationalism is the idea of citizens of a country thinking they are part of something bigger than themselves and they are loyal to their nation. Some people express nationalism through imperialism which is to aggressively dominate another nation. These intense actions could be for land or to show one's devotion to a particular nation. Either way, to have imperialism you would also have to have nationalism.

Nationalism is when people are tied to their country and will have pride to all of the cultures they have and will go to any extent. Imperialism has the same idea such as fighting for their country for what they believe is right. They will go to any extent such as war and death to keep where you live safe. I think that you do need to have some form of nationalism to have imperialism because they are both to a certain idea. You are supporting your country and living by it's culture and faith. So, you do need nationalism to have imperialism.
