I think that development is a continuos process because every person is different from another, and each one goes through their own thing, which shows that development isn't based on stages because someone might be at a certain stage physically, but is at a different stage psychologically, which makes them different to others and the normal stages. It is also a continuos process because not only is everyone different, but it also says that development is always happening, you don't just stop at a certain stage for a period of time, but you keep evolving and developing every day, and it makes you different to others.

No one on earth is fully like the other. Every person differs from the other, either physically or psychologically. Even the twins are no exception to this. They differ in some aspects or other. Heredity and environment are interacting forces that are both necessary for human development. A person’s genetic background has a strong influence on their development. The chromosomes and genes in each cell of the body carry hereditary instructions. Some of the most characteristics are polygenic and reflect the combined effects of dominant and recessive genes. The maturation of the body and nervous system underlies the orderly development of skills, cognitive abilities, emotions, and language. While some aspects of development are strongly influenced by biology, environmental influences also play a strong role as well. The environment means the society, the fields of society and even the whole world. In other words, we can say that environment means all that is found around the individual. The Environment plays a role in developing a person's personality and behavior; meanwhile, it can also affect some of our genes. For example, twins who are raised in different societies will have different behaviors even though they might have similar heredity traits, each one will behave according to the environment they were raised in.

I believe that there are 6 stages in life that we eventually will go through: birth, childhood , adolescence, early adulthood, midlife, and late adulthood. Meanwhile, we all have to go through the same stages, but it doesn't mean that the process will be the same for everyone because everyone is different from the other, and we earn from our past and gain new experience everyday differently, which makes the development continuous. Overall, our development occurs through the same stages but in different continuity process.

Both heredity and environment have their share in molding the life and personality of the individual. Heredity is responsible for all the inborn traits, the instincts, emotions, reflex action and physical traits. Environment is responsible for the growth and development of the physical, mental and social traits. Personality is a set of characteristics or traits that reflect in one’s cognitive, affective and behavioural states. Personality may be based on many factors. It may be based on innate or learned experience, or latent or manifest. But, the focus of this essay will be whether a person’s personality is based on the magnitude of genetic or an environmental influence. Personality can be divided into two categories, innate or acquired characteristics. Heritability is a statistical measure that expresses the proportion of the observed variability in a trait that is a direct result of genetic variability. Environmental influences can be divided into two classes, shared and non-shared environment. Both heredity and environment contribute to personality traits and that the degree of their individual contributions cannot be specified for any traits. Although a person’s environment plays an important part in their personality development, heredity factors play a larger role in deciding disposition of this environment. example, people vary in height. Although height is highly environmental variables can have a large impact.

stages vs continuity : those who advocate the continuous model describe development as a relatively smooth process, without sharp or distinct stages, through which an individual must pass. Meanwhile, supporters of the stages model describe development as a series of discrete stages, each of which is characterized by at least one task that an individual must accomplish before progressing to the next stage. but at the end it is human we are talking about everyone is different in his own development

I think our development occurs in both stages and continuity because there are 7 stages everyone will go through it : infancy, early childhood, late childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, late adulthood. although we all must go through these steps, the process won't be the same. because everyone is different from another and every person goes through different experiences and everyone has his own things. so in my opinion i believe that development occurs in the same stages but in different continuity process.

Because in everyone’s life he/she must go through this stages: birth stage, early childhood stage, late childhood stage, adolescence stage, early adulthood stage, mid life stage, late adulthood stage. So in this stages people learn alot because they pass through alot of things and experiences to learn from. And in the continuity we are different from each other so each one has a different situations and experiences passed through so he will learn from it in addition to the stages of life. So they complete each other to occur the human development

The Heredity in the development is the transmission of physical characteristics from parents to children through their genes. An example of heredity like if the parent of the child is always very angry , his/her child will be the same as his/her parent for about 90%.

Firstly , I think that all of us passed both ,Like everyone passed stages in their life like early childhood ,it’s supposed to be a stage in our life so everyone of us passed a lot of stages, But it’s also continuity. For example, a child learns to crawl, and then to stand and then to walk. They are gradually learning how to walk. It's just like hiking up the mountain path: a slow, steady ascent that leads to the top. Another example like the things we are taking in the school like the rules of mathematics, We add new rules every year till we reach the finish so it’s continuity. At the end,The continuity view says that change is gradual. Children become more skillful in thinking, talking or acting much the same way as they get taller. While stages view sees development as more succession of changes that produce different behaviors in different age specific life periods.

Way in which heredity and environmental influences contribute to human development.

2. Whether development occurs gradually or in stages.

First lets talk about the difference between heredity and environment. Personality is shaped both by genes and by one's upbringing and surroundings.Heredity is all the genes that we get from our parents that influence who we are from our physical appearance to our personality characteristics. We can’t change heredity because it’s something we are already born with and that’s why it is called nature. Nurture is all the environmental variables that impact who we are, including our early childhood experiences, how we were raised, our social relationships, and our surrounding culture mainly it is something that we learn through life. This is unlike the heredity we can change it.

Stages VS. Continuity

Development is the process of growth and change that everyone experiences. babies learn to sit up, and then to crawl and eventually to stand and walk. This is an example of development that happen during a person's life span. Also this is an example that people who think that development is a continuous process that happens gradually and cumulatively use to support their argument. On the other hand some people believes that people pass through stages of life that are qualitatively different from each other. And that it is like walking up the stairs : a series of stages, or steps, that get you to the top of the mountain.

That’s why development can happen in the 2 ways stages or continuity and each one of them have its own roll in the development of the humans.

Heridity vs Environment

Herydity is actually passing thegenes like traits ,looks, features and the way that someone communicates from one gen to another. That explains why a person can look so much like their parents or talks like them or have them body language.
Heridity and Environmet are so much related. They have to work with each other ;the genes changes depends on the environment and the effect of the environment depends on the genes they are working with. For example if someone is not tall and he started playing basketball in the time where the genes change, he would be taller after some time.

Both heredity and the environment contribute to the development process of people, the environment affects the development process because we are exposed to it, and by being exposed to it we learn how to do things. Our environment shapes the way we are and act, an example of a developing process that the environments affects is language, or speech, we learn from hearing seeing and being exposed to it, also accents are an example because people are not born with one, they learn how to speak with an accent because they are being exposed to it. Genes also contribute to the development process, some genes are passed from one generation to another.

The video we watched scientist studied if babies are born knowing what is wrong and what is right. After a few tests the results were the same, and they proved that we are born knowing what is wrong and what is right. It was a very surprising result, proving that from a very small age we know the right and wrong instead or learning it as we grow.

Both camps, continuous development and staged development, are correct in its own way, of course. While it is true that development is a continuous process that never stops, it is also true that there are stages to growth and that developments unfold at predictable times across the life span. The real difference between the two camps is likely the degree of magnification that each applies to its study, with the stage theorists taking a more distant but broader stance and the continuous theorists viewing things from up close.
