         <description><![CDATA[<div>AKA- Doing a good job! In order to provide an ideal service iIt is important to keep up with professional competencies provided by RUSA. ( Bunge, 1999).</div><div><strong><em>Knowledge Base:</em></strong>It is an ethical obligation to provide correct information. Therefore, a librarian needs to keep up with new knowledge and skills. Misinforming a library user can bring serious consequences. <br><strong><em>Collaboration:  </em></strong>Collaboration with other peers is key to making a library succeed.  This will benefit a librarian feel essential and helpful.<br><strong><em>Equitable Access:</em></strong> Spending equal time with patrons does not mean that you a fullfilling the patrons' needs.  It is imperative that you work on a needs basis.  What counts is quality not quantity.  Librarians should also be aware of patrons with special needs, disabilities and other needs by patrons.<br><strong><em>Outreach: </em></strong>Effective communication is essential in determining needs of services.  <br><strong><em>Evaluation and Assessment:  </em></strong>Is using an essential tool that will help assess the effectiveness of library instruction and reference services.  Librarians need to be aware if  this evaluation.  THen need to be aware of what the evaluation tool consists of. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><strong><em>Copyright Exceptions and Limitations:  </em></strong><em>Librarians should be aware and the policies and procedures  of their institution  and </em><strong><em> </em></strong><em>they should enforce and follow</em> <em>them</em><strong><em>. <br>Public Domain: </em></strong>Sonme exceptions to the protection of copyright are ideas, facts and government works.  These belong to Public domain.  These are works for which the copyright has expired - then they belong to public domain unles the the copyright holder has renewed or extended the copyright.<br><strong><em>First Sale Doctine: </em></strong>This allows libraries to lend books and other materials that they have purchased.  <br><strong><em>Fair Use:  </em></strong>Allows for the use of copyrighted materials without permission under certtain circumstances, including those of research and non-profit education.   <br><strong><em>Section 108 Exceptions: </em></strong> The US Copyright Act of 1976 expressively provides for libraries and archives to make reproductions of copyrighted materials without seeking permission from the copyright holder for the purposes of preservation of unpublished works and the replacement of published works.<br><strong><em>Orpahn Works:</em></strong> Are works who are in copyright but he holder of the copyright can't be found or identified. <br><strong><em>Open Access: </em></strong>Allows for  the free access to published material through openly accessible digital repositories.<br><strong><em>Creative Commons:  </em></strong>Is a non profit organization that provides a set of copyright licenses and tools allowing creators and copyright holders to incrementally waive their own rights to works they have created. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Defending the 1st Ammendment - freedom of speech and protecting against censorship is a primary tenent of intellectual freeedom.  Censorship can affect policy, selection of materials, access to materials and the diversity of materials, staff and users.<br><strong><em>Neutrality: </em></strong> Librarians should provide materials of a variety of view points, including that of the minority or fringe groups.</div>]]></description>
