A symbol that represents the love would be the letters that Christopher's mother wrote to him, because in the letters it can be demonstrated as Christopher's mother missed him, in most of her letters the mother remembers the experiences that she has lived with her son, in a letter the mother tells him why she left and tells Christopher that she didn't want to hurt him, it was like an apology. Also she wrote him letters often, that way she thought that she was speaking with him and all these things that this present in the letters demonstrates the love that the mother of Christopher felt for him.

EVIDENCE IN THE BOOK:

How frequent his mother was with the letters

"Well, I said I'd write to you every week, and I have. In fact, this is the second letter this week, so I'm doing even better than I said."

The symbol that represents this theme would be the dream that Christopher has which is to be an astronaut this connects with this theme since alignment is like separation from people that is to be isolated and one of the reasons why Christopher wants to be an astronaut is to be away from people, as it stresses him to be surrounded by people.

EVIDENCE IN THE BOOK:

"I think I would make a very good astronaut. [...] You also have to be someone who would like being on their own in a tiny spacecraft thousands and thousands of miles away from the surface of the earth [...] And I like really little spaces, so long as there is no one else in them with me."

Talking about the trust Christopher has with other people we can say that a symbol that would represent this is like a kind of connection Christopher has with his parents, that when Christopher is upset and his parents put their hand in the shape of a fan and make Christopher do the same so they can touch each other with their fingers, this to Christopher calms him down and gives him more confidence.

EVIDENCE IN THE BOOK:

With his dad:

“Father was standing in the corridor. He held up his right hand and spread his fingers out in a fan. Come on now. Stop screaming. Touch my hand. Listen to me, Christopher. You can do it.” And after a while I stopped screaming and I held up my left hand and spread my fingers out in a fan and we made our fingers and thumbs touch each other and Mother said, “It’s OK, Christopher. It’s OK. There aren’t any sharks in Cornwall,” and then I felt better.” Page 77

The symbol that can represent this theme is Christopher's book that he is writing, since in that book Christopher wrote how he tries to solve Wellington's case and to bring justice, in that book he wrote the name of the person that he believed to be a suspect, he practically wrote all the information that he was acquiring about the death of the dog, since he became a detective and is related to this because he wanted to do justice for the death of the dog and to find the murderer.

EVIDENCE IN THE BOOK:

Why he didn't want to lose his book:

“I wanted to get my book back because I liked writing it.

The box of cards represents the lies Christopher's dad told him for so long. These letters made Chris discover the reality that his father had hidden from him. In the we could how his mother wrote to him for so long while he thought she was dead.

EVIDENCE IN THE BOOK:

" So I went into his bedroom and opened up the cupboard and lifted the toolbox off the top of the shirt box and opened the shirt box. I counted the letters. There were 43 of them. They were all addressed to me in the same handwriting. I took one out and opened it. Inside was this letter:
3rd May 451c
Chapter Road Wittesden
London
NW2 5NG 0208 887 8907 "

When Christopher descovered the letter from Mother and the dramatic twist to the plot and also the reveal of the other secret that the Father had kept from Christopher.
The letter initially confuses Christopher because it contains facts about Mother’s life working at a factory in London, although to Christopher’s knowledge Mother had never worked at a factory or lived in London. The postmark dates the letter to several months after Mother’s supposed death, leading Christopher, who evidently doesn’t consider that Mother might not be dead, to question how this scenario could have occurred.

Throughout the book, Sherlock Holmes stands for Christophers personal values of logic and mental detachment. Christopher admires Holmes because he uses logic to solve mysteries and never gives in to the temptation of supernatural explanations for odd happenings. Christopher tries to copy Holmes’s methods as he attempts to solve the mystery of Wellingtons death.
Furthermore, Holmes represents Christopher’s ability to succeed in life. Holmes is an odd character who does not interact with the world in a particularly conventional manner.

EVIDENCE IN THR BOOK:

"I also like The Hound of the Baskervilles because I like Sherlock Holmes and I think that if I were a proper detective he is the kind of detective I would be. He is very intelligent and he solves the mystery and he says: The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.
But he notices them, like I do. Also it says in the book Sherlock Holmes had, in a very remarkable degree, the power of detaching his mind at will. And this is like me, too, because if I get really interested in something... I don’t notice anything else... Also Sherlock Holmes doesn’t believe in the supernatural, which is God and fairy tales and Hounds of Hell and curses, which are stupid things."

Throughout the book, the A level represents Christopher’s dreams for his future. He wants to go to university and become a scientist, and the A level is the first step for him out of his school and out of Swindon. Because he’s the first student from his special needs school to ever take an A level, the test proves to him and the world that he doesn’t have to lower his expectations for himself just because he’s autistic. He can use his different way of seeing the world to succeed. Also during the book he is always talking about numbers and math problems, relating real problems with that and showing us what he know and teaching us also.

EVIDENCE IN THE BOOK:

"And then, when I’ve done that, I am going to go to university in another town... And I can live in a flat with a garden and a proper toilet. And I can take Sandy and my books and my computer.
And then I will get a First Class Honors degree and I will become a scientist. And I know I can do this because I went to London on my own, and because I solved the mystery of Who Killed Wellington? and I found my mother and I was brave and I wrote a book and that means I can do anything."

" Chapters in books are usually given the cardinal numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and so on. But I have decided to give my chapters prime numbers 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 and so on because I like prime numbers.

Christopher has an urgent need to see the world as orderly, and he has a very low tolerance for disorder. He obsesses over schedules, for instance, and even describes the difficulty he had going on vacation with his parents because they had no routine to follow. Moreover, because Christopher has such difficulty connecting to people on an emotional level, he relies heavily on order and logic to understand and navigate the world.
And the thing is that he know all of that.

EVIDENCE IN THE BOOK:

" So I would have to be an astronaut on my own, or have my own part of the spacecraft which no one else could come into.
