📌 Reminders for the Week

• On Your Own October – From Monday 🚶 – Our KG2 students will be expected to walk to their classrooms by themselves. Please drop your child at Ms. Natasja’s office and allow them to walk independently to their classroom.

• Pink Day – Tuesday, October 6th 🎀 – We will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing pink to school. The children will also enjoy a special ice cream treat as part of the day’s activities. Ice creams will cost 15 dirhams each. Please see Toddle announcements for more information.

• Early Finish – Wednesday, October 8th – School will finish at 12:00 pm. Buses will still operate as normal. For parent pick-up, please collect your child at 12:00 pm.

• Teach Rex Visit – Thursday, October 9th 🦖 – Teach Rex will be visiting the school. Those who have signed up will attend this exciting experience. Deadline to sign up is Monday the 6th of October. Please refer to Ms. Candice’s announcement on Toddle (posted 11th September) regarding payment and consent forms. Both the payment and consent form must be completed for children to attend.

• End of Unit Celebration – Friday, October 10th 🌍 – Children are invited to wear traditional clothes and bring in traditional food from their country. Please remember that we are a nut-free school.

• Pre Assessment – The children will be risk-takers and write independently about a community worker, so that the teachers can assess their prior knowledge on this topic, and what elements of writing they have grasped / are still learning.

• Fact file: We will be inquiring into Fact Files, and finding out what features a fact file has.
• Phonics – The children will be starting their second 6 week block of phonics - they may have a new teacher / be in a different group for this 6 week block, based on their assessments before the break.

• Pre - Assessment – The children will complete a pre-assessment, to assess their prior knowledge of number, addition, subtraction, and measure (tally marks, bar charts, pictographs).

• Pre-Assessment – The children will independently draw a community in order to assess their prior knowledge on what a community is.

• Community workers: They will then research into community workers, and sort them based on their job, where they work and what they wear at work.

• On Your Own October – 🚶 All KG2 students are now expected to walk to their classrooms by themselves. Well done for having such a great start to this! We have seen so many wonderful Risk-Takers doing this so well already. Please remember to drop your child at Ms. Natasja’s office and allow them to walk independently to their classroom.

• Nut-free school: Please be vigilant in avoiding sending any kind of nut-based treats or spreads into school. We have some children with severe nut allergies in the year group, so please be mindful.

• PTCs Thursday 30th October – An email has been sent out by Mr Tom about how to book a PTC with your child's teacher. There will be no school for the children on this day, as PTCs will be running.

• UAE Flag Day: On Monday 3^rd November we will celebrate UAE flag day. We will have a whole school flag raising ceremony and do flag day activities.

• Dubai 30x30: PE kit can be worn on Thursday Nov 6 for a 30x30 dance activity that will take place. Additionally, on Friday 7^th November the children can dress up as their favourite sports star!

To take about people who help us stay healthy: The children will be inquiring into the people who help us stay healthy, such as nurses, doctors, and dentists. Through discussions, stories, and writing activities, the children will learn about the important roles these helpers play in keeping everyone in our community healthy and safe.

• Dubai 30x30: Children will continue to be active for the Dubai 30 X 30 and will engage in lunchtime games Tuesday and Wednesday. No need for uniform changes.

✏️ Language Arts

• We will continue our theme of community helpers, focusing this week on firefighters. We will read Charlie the Firefighter and explore how firefighters help the community. Link to the story can be found below.

📌 Reminders for the Week

• Eid Al Etihad (previously known as UAE National Day) will take place on Wednesday 26th November. Please see Toddle announcements for more information. Children can wear traditional UAE clothing or the colours of the UAE flag.

• The Book Fair will take place for the whole of next week (see Toddle announcements for more information). Your child’s teacher will share the exact day and time that the class will visit the book fair together. You are welcome to visit it yourselves during drop-off and pick-up times.

• Field trip to Oli Oli: Next Monday (February 9th), we will be heading to Oli Oli. • Oli Oli Monday: We will be heading to Oli Oli on Monday! Please ensure your child wears their PE kit, and that they bring a packed snack in a small separate bag to their schoolbag that they can carry themselves. A disposable water bottle is advised for the trip to avoid carrying a heavy reusable one. Feel free to pack their usual water bottle in their big schoolbag for when we return. If your child is not coming on the trip, they will remain at home that day.
