There are a few ways that one can use Twitter to assess the students. Students can use the hashtags #imstuck #slowdown and #knowit100% to summarize what they have learned for this particular lesson. Although ELA is probably the most ideal subject to use this on, math can definitely used. Students can summarize the math lesson using math related emojis and can include how they feel about the lesson. I feel like this is a great way to have the students express how they feel using characters they're comfortable. On the board, an answer would be written on the board.  Mainly, a term/person/vocab/concept and most often from.
Students have to come up with a question that would have that as an answer. This requires BACKWARDs thinking for the students. This helps the students "think outside of the box."
I think this would be a great idea to see the creative ways that students see the term and how they will be able to form questions about it.

My questions would be based around a certain area and or their opinion about something, such as:

  • Most confusing area of topic
  • What question from the topic might appear on the next test

 This formative assessment is perfect for summarizing a social studies lesson. This also is perfect for a science lesson. For example, the student will impersonate a scientist and write all about the how electricity works, or the water cycle.
