However, there were many traditional religions practiced before the arrival of these two religions. Some people dident like the religion Islam but decided to tolerate it.The reigon made more laws and rules come up.The religion also helped new groups adapt to each other.The religion also brought sertan skills like reading and writing. The religions of Africa affected many saromonies and rituals like weddings and funerals. People who belied in these religions usually went to church.

The commoners in Africa were very poor and had to work hard everyday in there lives most of the people were farmers others were fishers or took care of livestock another job someone could have was a trader traders were very important to the role of economy traders the traders traded at the jinni center and they were usually very wealthy and really high up in the social class they usually traded copper gold and iron. artisans also had many jobs such as miners and weavers. Black miths, jewelers and tool makers were thought to have magical powers. Warriors were really important, especially in large societies. Sometimes farmers were required to join the army. Slaves were the lowest class and there were a lot of them and they were usually people captured from enemy tribes.

The women were respected more than the men in Africa as they were in charge. You usually trace your heritage through your mother and not your father. But the men started getting more power and the women started being shown less respect.

African art is very diverse but most of the pieces are 3D and are made of wood, bronze, iron, ceramics, and ivory it mostly depicted humans and sculptures masks were also very important and were used to tell story's. Jewelry was another important type of art and was used to show off someone's wealth.
