Many of the suggestions offered are ideas that the majority of us have spoke to over the years. The concerns I have is the expectation that our students are getting a foundation skill for FTS kindergartens and it is developmentally inappropriate. Without the "idiotic practices" offered in the article we will not be giving the students the jump start many parents are looking for.

This article is absolutely on target!! imaginative play and art work is the best way to teach and allow children to explore their interest.
Centers and choice to travel through the centers during free play and classroom learning is a great concept.

This is something that we are continuing to grapple with and think through.. not the letter of the week concept; we've moved way past that in our curriculum and teaching. We have a PK-3 committee that is continuing to look at research and decide on the FTS systemaic approach.
