I am excited for this change because I dislike how much it feels like I am on a shopping app lately with TikTok and am glad we are getting back to authentic, engaging content.

The most interesting trend I saw was #3- claiming long videos will be a trend again. Personally, I don't believe it would come back around like the author has in mind. Videos have been getting shorter and shorter, training us to deal with a smaller attention span. It may take longer than initially thought to bring back five-minute videos on social media.

1. Text-only posts are the sleeper hit of the year (and X remains on top) because it is surprising to see that written posts remain popular as video posts are becoming more relevant.

I found this to be the most interesting social media trend of 2024 because not only do I catch myself going to TikTok or Pinterest rather than any other search engine to find answers to my questions, but also I noticed that that nearly 30% of my TikTok feed is full of entertaining and engaging advertisements (sometimes I can barely tell an advertisement from a normal social media post). Social media is relied upon for answers second-up to google...wow!

6. Telegram might become the next super app.

I'm surprised by this because I've never heard of Telegram. I also don't see the app becoming as popular as the article says it will, but who knows.

I think i picked this trend honestly because I am a big user of of social media as a search engine for local deals. I also use social meida to search out local events, concerts, and even recipes sometimes. The trend also states that is will be big for Gen Z and that is what I am.

Photo dumps have been a trend I've seen on X and instagram this year. At first You'd only see people do photo dumps on instagram for past couple of years. As it was the original social media platform that created the trend. I like to think this is an interesting trend since the main people who photo dump don't spend their time on social media and rather just post all of what they've been up to recently for others can see.

Longer videos will make a big comeback seemed surprising to me. I feel like nowadays people are so into the shorts or reels. To get that quick dopamine from a video. So, I think it's nice to see longer videos making a comeback since max video lengths on some platforms are growing. I wonder how well it's going to go or how long it's going to last that way.

This trend talks about how minute videos to two to five minutes in video length and this was interesting because of how much focus has been on the short videos. Now they are increasing the video length on these short video platforms.

I found this interesting. Personally, unless it is a tutorial on how to do something, I do not like long videos. If it is more than say 30 seconds I will scroll past it.

what i have read about this article is that the creator Mark Zackerberg. is trying to put in all social platforms in VR and him self he still has no idea how would that work on VR. because they need to buy a VR witch might cost $400 just to get your hand on but he see that they are making money by use it for gaming or health and fitness and e-commerce. maybe it might for having social media on VR.

I thought this was an interesting trend because I already use YouTube shorts to watch anything my favorite content creators post. I was also surprised to read that when it was first used in 2021, it wasn't really popular and it was even called a "TikTok clone". But as time went on, in 2022 there was about 1.5 billion people using it, and the number rose by another half billion by the time it was 2023. I'm sure as time goes on with it being used as it is now, the numbers I think will go even higher with the amount of users on it.

Honestly, I'm a bit excited that longer videos are slowly returning. While I don't mind short videos since I have a short attention span, I sorta miss longer ones where they add more information, like for tutorials.
