Littering has a negative effect on the environment as it causes pollution. The environment becomes dirty and creates germs around us. Littering can be blown into rivers, forests and can be hazardous to the aquatic life and animals in the forest. Littering can be in schools, along the roads and streets from the waste that is created by the community members. Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new products. Recycling is important because it helps reduce pollution caused by waste. Recycling helps keep planet Earth clean and reduce the use of energy. Recyclable materials include plastic, glass, paper and metal. Materials need to be collected and be brought to collection center to be sorted, cleaned and reprocessed. 

It is important to raise awareness in schools about littering and recycling because learners get to receive knowledge about the effects of waste on the environment and how recycling works. Learners get to be encouraged to pick up waste and ask their friends to clean after themselves also. The awareness will create a cyclical process where everyone gets taught about recycling and practice it. 

Reduce- use less of the natural resources by cutting down on practices which lead to their wastage.

Reuse- use items repeatedly

Recycle- recycle materials into new products.
