Its not much different reading an informational book than an informational article. An informational book has a lot more information than an informational article, so you have more to write about and learn.
I think the central idea of my book is that you can't want to much power. I know this because when the government wanted to much power (taxing the whiskey) they had people rebel and people were killed. 
The text is organized as a chronological text structure. I know this because it has when they taxed the whiskey and then the events leading up to the citizens rebelling. I know this because after reading the article and looking at the sub-headings, such as "Transportation And Infrastructure Impacts", "Ecosystem", or "Oceans And Coasts", I can tell that the article tells about how global warming affects different parts of Alaska.
Some smaller main ideas are that global warming is a huge problem and can affect many lives. I know this because all through the article they say how, for example, "Lakes get smaller for a few reasons. Warmer temperatures increase evaporation. The water moves from the lakes into the air. Also, when permafrost thaws, the lakes can drain more easily." which tells that global warming is depleting the water from lakes in Alaska. Another main idea is that global warming doesn't only affect the ecosystem and the people it affects the economy. I know this because  in the article it says "Additionally, warming leads to a shorter period when ice roads are usable and a shorter season during which oil and gas can be extracted." I know the smaller central idea, about the test that the dogs had to take, is true because of the section called "Memory Test For Dogs" says "The test would target episodic memory. It would rule out anything involving learning. Learning uses semantic memory. 
People who study memory agree that a key to episodic memory is how memories are saved. They must be stored without the knowledge that they will need to be remembered later. A test of episodic memory has to be a surprise... The dogs in the study were pets who were easily trained to imitate a simple action. The action might be looking into a bucket or touching an umbrella. They were given the command “do it.”
Earlier studies had shown dogs could remember such actions later. To test episodic memory, the scientists had to make sure that the dogs would not expect to imitate the actions. They had to make the dogs expect something else. Now, after watching their owners perform some actions, the dogs got the command 'lie down.'" This central idea is also all throughout the text, not only in this section like in the section "Can Dogs Have "Surprise" Memories?" it says "First, they received training until they would lie down right after seeing the actions. It was one sign they were expecting the “lie down” command. A second sign that dogs were expecting a "lie down" command was if they acted surprised when they did not get one. When dogs see something that surprises them, they look at it longer.
Next came the “do it” command. It was the episodic memory test. Instead of the expected “lie down,” after dogs saw the last action they instead got the command to imitate. First, they did seem surprised, looking longer at their owners than earlier. Then, nose to an umbrella, paw on the chair, most of the dogs imitated their owner’s actions. 
To see if they would remember the action after a longer time, the dogs left the testing area for an hour. Then they came back for a second command to imitate.
