         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em><mark><sup>Altitude:</sup></mark></em></strong><strong><em><sup> The altitudes in the fynbos biomes which are the Cape regions and make up most of the Western and Eastern Capes. The altitude in this biome is very low from only 188-951 meters about sea level as the fynbos biome is mostly coastal . There are some areas where the height about sea level comes up to 1012-3315 meters up.</sup></em></strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><strong><em><mark><sub>Climatic Classification:</sub></mark></em></strong><strong><em><sub> This biome is predominantly coastal and mountainous with a Mediterranean climate.</sub></em></strong></li><li><strong><em><mark><sub>Minimum and Maximum temperatures:</sub></mark></em></strong><strong><em><sub> There is only a 10% difference between the summer and winter temperatures. The temperatures in July are around 7-15 degrees C and 15-25 degrees C in January. There are hot spells which occur in the summer when the temperatures  can reach over 40 degrees C. This biome mainly has cool wet winters and hot dry summers. </sub></em></strong></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><strong><em><mark><sub>Presence or absence of frost:</sub></mark></em></strong><strong><em><sub> The frost period is very short of just a few days per year to up to 30 days of frost. 1-30 days is sometimes shortened due to the influence of deep river valleys on the temperature. In the valleys it is slightly warmer than the plateau so there is way less frost. The frost free areas are mainly the coastlines on the Eastern and Western Cape.</sub></em></strong></li><li><strong><em><mark><sub>Rainfall pattern:</sub></mark></em></strong><strong><em><sub>  The rainfall in the Fynbos is very unevenly dispersed. 70% of the rainfall in the Fynbos is during June to September  in the form of stormy cold fronts driven in from the north-west Atlantic bearing heavy rain and strong winds. There is occasional rainfall during October and November; December through to March is a very dry period with virtually no rain. </sub></em></strong></li><li><strong><em><mark><sub>Average rainfall per year:</sub></mark></em></strong><strong><em><sub> The mountains of the South-western Cape region receives an annual average of 1000 mm of rain far wetter than the lower areas of the region which get between 180mm to 650 mm of rain a year.</sub></em></strong></li><li><strong><em><sub>Water availability: </sub></em></strong></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em><sub>Reptiles<br>The convex-shaped shell of the geometric tortoise has a bright yellow starred pattern on a black background and a similar, but duller, less-defined pattern on the underside. It is superficially very similar to the more common and widespread tent tortoise but differs from it in that, in the geometric tortoise, the marginal shields are higher than they are wide and there are no buttock tubercles on the back of the hind legs. The front legs are covered with unequal-sized scales and the front feet have five toes. The hind feet have four toes.</sub></em></strong></div>]]></description>
