The drive to Mexico was very bumpy due to the dirt and gravel streets that were very dirty. 
A uniformed guard who was asked if he wanted to marry Maya by her dad kept caressing her cheek and touching her.

IMPORTANT PERSON: Daddy Clidell is an important person to Maya in San Francisco because Daddy Clidell becomes a very important father figure to Maya. Daddy Clidell also treats Maya as if it were his very own daughter and treats her with respect and love, unlike Daddy Bailey Sr. who often does not care for what happens to Maya.
