Section 1 is the most important because it talks about how the Aztecs found their civilization. They believed a sign of god was that an eagle with it's wings spread out is sitting on a cactus, holding a snake in it's beak. After years of traveling through the deserts of the Valley of Mexico, they saw the sign of god and settled there.

Summary of the Aztecs

The Aztecs arrived at the Valley of Mexico having trouble establishing a city wherever they settled. After they sacrificed the daughter of the Culhua chief, war broke out and the Aztecs were escorted to the island surrounded by shallow water "Lake Texcoco". Eventually, they saw the Teotihuacans' feathered serpent god in the island and established a successful city there named "Tenochtitlan". Tenochtitlan eventually became one of the biggest cities in the world. They would "reclaim lands" and expanded them over 5 miles. In the center of Tenochtitlan, there was a plaza in which the Great Temple was located in. The Great Temple stood 150 feet tall. Their way of transportation was through canals. Some people of the Aztecs hated paying tribute and wanted freedom so they made allies with the Aztec's enemies and invaded Mexico in 1519.
