According to the video, English is a global language not only because now every country speaks it and so should we, but we have to analyze how it starts to be a main language, this starts many years ago when this place was a power in science, technology and industrial revolution, in which many things were invented for a modern society. Later it also became an economic power, remembering that America and Great Britain had money to finance the world. They also became a cultural power with English being the language of the vast majority of inventions, all of which has contributed to the enormous global status of English.
I consider that English was necessary for communication and agreements, if history had been different, and these countries would not have had that development and other countries would have been the ones that did, then English would not necessarily have been learned but the language of the country that would have excelled throughout history. Nowadays English helps us to communicate with people from different countries, to a better job, access to more information, research and technology.
