What Music Is To Me

Music is a spiritual cleanser. It speaks a universal language that brings people together. There really is no specific way to define music. If there was a way, I would describe it as simply captivating. I think the reason why music is so powerful derives from the nature of the song. A song has its introduction, climax, and conclusion. The waves of a song are just like the waves of life. In a way, it connects people from all over the world. Some of my go to platforms for music include Spotify, Sound Cloud, YouTube, or by Apple Music. My favorite genres tend to range between Korean pop, classical, musical soundtracks, then underground indie music. My go to genre is symphonic and instrumental. I admire soundtracks from movies as well, especially from the Studio Ghibli films. This is where the focus of the Padlet will be. My goal is to move you through the wonders of music and what it means to me. I hope you all enjoy this selection of music as this is what I tend to listen too. Music means the world to me, and I hope it means the world to you as well.

This is one of my all time favorite pieces from Joe Hisaishi. Legend of Ashitaka is a song from the movie Princess Mononoke which was produced by Studio Ghibli. The orchestra of this piece is breathtaking. Every time I listen to this, I feel inspired and at peace.

Here is another one of Joe Hisaishi's work. This time, the song is the main theme from the movie Howl's Moving Castle. When I listen to this song, its as if I'm in a trance and ready to ballroom dance. This song can make you feel wonderful and full of remorse at the same time and that's what I love about Joe Hisaishi's music.

He composed this piece for yet another Studio Ghibli film known as Castle in the Sky. This song will take you on a journey through ups and downs, and still make you feel content once it ends. It's truly beautiful the way the piece captivates your heart and mind.

Any one who listening to music has to at some time admire and appreciate the song they are listening too. In this photo, you can see Mr. Hisaishi conduct a concert. Take a moment to focus on his expression. You can see the music and the melodies flow through him as he closes his eyes and leads his orchestra. Music is beautiful and bittersweet. This is where we become the most vulnerable and let our heart take over.
