Maddy is 17, recently turning 18 at the start of the book. Due to her disease, she has not been capable of leaving her house since she was only a few months old. Since Maddy could first speak, she has only ever socialized with her mother, her nurse Carla, and a couple of tutors. However, everything begins to change for Madeline when someone named Olly, a new neighbor, moves across the street. They start to communicate with one another through IM, emails and writing messages on their windows. Maddy opens up to him, sharing her concerns and feelings to Olly, and begins to recognize how trapped she is in her life, as well as how much she has missed out on. Over time, Maddy begins to fall in love with Olly, but she is also aware that continuing to talk to Olly could turn out to be a disaster.

There are various symbolizations throughout the cover that represent Maddy and the plot, most of these include my own interpretations. To begin, the solid color of the cover is white, which I believe represents how dull and simple everything was for Maddy during the first 17 years of her life. She never longed, or felt a strong desire in general, to explore the outside world. The simple life she was living, was all she had, it was her everything. Then, when Olly entered her life, he, along with the rest of the world, became her everything as well. Life became something new and full of opportunities. It is as if her life exploded with color, her imagination and longing to explore the world increasing rapidly. The drawings of different objects around the second everything have numerous symbols that relate to the book as well. The story itself was both very interesting and cute, and it was very capable of expressing the emotional connections to the situation that Maddy was in. It provided a clear perspective and decent character development throughout the story. I feel it personally did move a little fast when it came to Maddy feeling attracted to Olly and taking so many risks, however, it does suit the impulsivity and desires she feels after being trapped in her home for so many years. I really loved reading the first half of the book, because it gave an informative demonstration of Maddy’s emotions towards the world, herself, Olly, Carla, her mother, etc…- The other half of the story, the ending, flowed very nice plot-wise, although it was very predictable. I had guessed the ending around halfway through the book, and I genuinely wish there was a little more to it, even perhaps more of a reflection through both Maddy and her mother’s eyes. I feel this could have provided a better resolution, but, I do take into thoughtful consideration how the extremity of Maddy’s situation affected her entire life and emotions, especially her reaction towards the end. I do not feel this is a problem within the book, because this is more of a personal opinion. Overall, I really did like the book and it had a pleasing flow to the plot, which made me want to keep reading it.  
      One of the parts of the plot that I felt was most interesting was Maddy’s devotion and willingness to be with Olly. She was willing to sacrifice everything, even her own life, for a boy she had only just met. Furthermore, that brings me to the intensity of Maddy’s thoughts and descriptions to when she is with Olly or thinking about him. Her growing interest and curiosity, as well as her desires when with him were written with descriptive emotions and a plentiful amount of detail. It was cute and really assisted in expressing the love Maddy and Olly had for each other. 
    Personally, I do not feel I had many connections with the book, besides Maddy’s consistent thinking about how her actions can impact the future. 
For example, on page 297 it states, 
“Or any of the infinite number of moments that led to this one. So, if I could change one moment, which would I pick? And would I get the results I want? Would I still be Maddy? Would I have lived in this house? Would a boy named Olly have moved in next door? Would we have fallen in love? Chaos theory says that even a small change in initial conditions can lead to wildly unpredictable results. A butterfly flaps her wings now and a hurricane forms in the future.” 
My mindset can be similar to this, as I consider many things related to how I am where I am now, or how one small choice I could've made in the past affected a big part of my future. This makes me feel a small connection with the character, Maddy, because it reminded me of myself.

     I enjoyed this quote because of it's connection of text to the world. Growing up, Maddy didn't necessarily envy people because of their looks, but rather, that they are lucky enough to go outside every day. This made me consider how what one person takes for granted, can be another person's desire to have. In Maddy's situation, this quote shows that she rarely even thought about her appearance, because although that is something many 'normal' girls worry about, it is a much smaller concern for Maddy. 

"By the third week it becomes harder to sustain our new relationship in this new form. I miss talking to him. You can only pantomime so much. I miss being in the same room as him, his physical presence. I miss the way my body was always aware of his. I miss getting to know him. I miss getting to know the Maddy that I am when I'm with him." Page 156
   This quote tells a lot about Maddy's increasing love for Olly. Three weeks gad passed and Maddy already began to feel as if she was in a 'new form' when she was around him. This represents character development, and her expanding curiosity of love and the real world. I choose this quote because it was an example of how meeting Olly influence Maddy into taking risks to explore the world and become her true self. This is a good example of the universal theme, coming-of-age.

"We watch the way the water pulls back and turns over and beats against the sand, trying to wear the earth away. And even though it doesn't succeed, it pulls back and pounds the shore again and again, as if there were no last time and there is no next time and this time is the time that counts." Page 232
   I found this quote to be very interesting. I believe it is a representation of how life always throws challenges at us, but we must push ourselves to take risks and explore outside our comfort zone. Similar to how the waves beats against the sand and tries to wear it all away, situations in life can do the same thing to a person mentally and/or physically. New problems will always appear no matter what, but we must learn how to understand the challenge, reflect on how it as affected us, and then use what we've learned to keep pushing through new challenges that life throws at us. I feel this quote signifies Maddy's situation in the book, as well as how she gets through the consistent new problems and experiences that she encounters.

It was remarkably engaging and delightful to read! If the reader takes interest in young romance books, (even if it is a little cheesy, as well as the theme: coming-of-age, this book may be a good choice for them. Everything Everything was overall a really cute book and had a fairly fast-paced and descriptive plot, which could be enjoyed by many readers! Although, It can appear a little similar to some other young adult romance novels and movies, so if the reader wants something other than romance, this may be a book for another time. This song is a cute, positive song about love. I believe it connects to the happiness that fills Maddy when she meets Olly and how it overlaps her fears, causing her to take risks. A line from the song that reminds me of how she feels about Olly, as well as how he affected her life is,
"All the world somehow starts to shine (shine) with you by my side."
