I work at Queenstown Road where there are 11 rooms. SR had about double the space. It was interesting to see how the building was layed out in comparison to my own. Also, Southampton Row (SR) is a good service to experience if you would like to see challenging behaviours and how staff manage this.

Beyond Recovery - peer mentors run this on Wednesdays at head office.

Great to shadow, women's recovery service

Sat in on the DAHA meeting (if you are interested)

Something different - shadowed to a clients house for an assessment (end of their time at SHP).

Shadowed: Wendy Charlton (Women's Specialist Navigator)

Very different from accommodation-based services; we walked around the King's Cross/Euston/Camden area most of the shift trying to locate clients (we didn't succeed that day) and liaising with a huge local network of people (including the local pharmacist who seems to know every face, a methadone delivery driver, navigators and outreach teams from other organisations and clients in the area). Involves detective work, deduction, being constantly switched on and aware of your surroundings.
