First Visit to Maddox

I remember my first time in Maddox and I was just in awe. It was my first time seeing a genuine, college-level production. They were performing Candide and I was beyonf impressed. Not only was the theatre itself beatufiul, the attention-to-detail on the sets, costumes, makeup, etc. were incredible. I had only ever seen middle school drama club productions before, so this was a whole new world.

My first time in this building was seeing Joseph and the Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat last semester! It was clear that everyone involved put a lot of love into the production, from the performers to the set designers and everyone else behind the scenes making things run smoothly. As someone who did stagetech for their senior year of high school, I recognize the hard work that goes into putting on productions so I admire everyone involved so much! Thank you for putting on these shows for both us students and the overall community. <3

I would not be about to graduate law school ready to enter the litigation world if not for Professor Mogford, and the phenomenal classes and aspects of the Clark Arts building making me who I am today. That building is in need of major upgrades to keep it accessible, competitive, and to provide the best education for new students. Donate as you can!

My first time in Clark Arts was to work on creating what was then called the freshman show. In the 60s and 70s, the freshman class was expected to put on a show to entertain everyone else. We were the first class to perform the freshman show in the brand new Maddox theater. Talk about excitement! I remember very little about the show other than one skit I was in, but I do remember my class of 1974 had a blast, and our audience loved us. What a great way to be introduced to Clark Arts Center and the Maddox Theater.

Clark Arts holds so, so many amazing memories - plays, art shows, art history classes, figure drawing, after art show shenanigans, the printmaking studio, late nights in the printmaking studio…I had the best professors and made lifelong friends. Best times!
