The body was being covered in salt, to eliminate any moisture to prevent decay. The special perfumes and oils were spread over the body. Fabric was carefully wrapped around the body. Pendents and good luck charms were placed with in the wrappings. Temples were built to honor and worship the gods. Festivals and  religious events took place there. These magnificent wonders were usually built by slaves or captured foreigners. The oldest temple is believed to be built around the 10th century.
