Their ages range from 4 to 5 years old. There were about 20 students in the class I observed. I observed at Woodman elementary. The classroom was very open with round tables spread out the classroom, there was an area kind of blocked off for the teacher's desk, a kitchen area, a handwashing sink, a big restroom, and an area for students to "cool down". There was an also an area with the smartboard and a rug, where the students sat and learned for parts of the day. For certain students, she would have to speak directly to them, redirect them constantly, or provide positive feedback or reassurance when completing tasks. I would say her strategies were pretty effective. I thought I had lots of patience already, but at some points I honestly did not know how the teacher was able to keep her cool and stay calm to redirect students.
