This is my immediate family. I have a twin sister, Melissa, along with my parents and grandparents. This year, we just added our dog, Dasher, to our family. He turned 1 in October and he completes our family! My whole family is made up of teachers or retired teachers so they are one of my main sources of inspiration.

These are my college roommates, Alexa, Emma and Melissa. Alexa and Emma were the first people I was able to learn from in regards to social justice and have helped foster that mindset in my views about equitable teaching. They are both getting their Masters in Higher Education so we love supporting each other in this field!

I am currently student teaching at Ocean Beach Elementary School in San Diego, CA. I am student teaching in a first grade class, which is made up of 56% White students, 30% Hispanic students, 4% Black students and 8% mixed or other ethnicity students. In addition about half of the 23 students come from a low-income household.

I graduated with my Bachelors in Psychology from the University of San Diego (USD) in 2016. During my undergraduate years, I learned about the inequities in our country's educational system and God's heart for correcting social injustices. I wanted to be part of this mission, so I joined Teach for America in 2016 after graduating. I taught preschool for two years through TFA at Bobier Elementary School in Vista, CA. In my last year of teaching preschool, I started classes for my Multiple Subjects Credential and Masters of Education.

After teaching preschool, I grew excited at preparing the littlest of learners for a successful education. I would love to continue this by teaching Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten after getting my credential. I hope to teach in a Title 1 school back in Vista, CA. I desire to be a teacher who is always learning the best strategies to help her students succeed, a teacher who genuinely cares about her students and their families and a teacher who creates a strong community of learners. Here is the link to my showcase portfolio, which has more about my vision for teaching.
