This course will be dedicated to teaching people how to throw on the potter's wheel. Students will learn skills in centering clay, the tools of throwing on a wheel, and the techniques used to pull up a pot on the wheel. They will also use techniques learned in the lower-level ceramic courses to decorate and complete their pottery. This course will be a 4 class course and will be limited to the number of wheels present so that people have adequate time to master the skill.

This will be a 10-session course, and there will be one to two methods of drawing discovered in each class. This course is designed to give the student confidence in their ability to draw, as they will discover which method of drawing suits them best. The methods discussed in this class are as follows;

upside-down drawing and elliptical drawing

Human proportion or Gesture

Facial proportions

Grid drawing or quadrant drawing

Seeing value and value scales (introduction to drawing pencils)

Shading forms and seeing the light

Drawing textures

Drawing an aerial perspective

Drawing in linear perspective

Drawing a still life

Many of the classes will begin a piece, but the students will

be asked to practice or complete their project at home.



Students may purchase their supplies or the supplies will be furnished for use in class. Students will need to purchase their own 12 x 18 drawing pad.

This course is designed to apply the skills learned in the Drawing 1 course. It will have projects for the students to complete that will work on creativity, composition, and a wider variety of drawing mediums. Students will be assigned projects that they will begin in class, but complete on their own. They will have a group of projects that they may choose from. This course will be extremely individualized. There will be 5 projects in total, and students will be given freedom to make individual choices, but have the teacher there to guide them through the process. A few project examples can be found on the following Padlet, but there are many more to choose from.


The cost will be $25 per session

The second session will be about learning how to use the impasto medium, and the third session will be about painting the flowers. This course will cost $75 and a deposit of $25 will be required up front to reserve a spot in the course.
